NYK to Sponsor Shell XPrize Finalist

NYK has agreed to sponsor Team KUROSHIO,* a finalist in the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE competition, by providing the transportation for the team’s unmanned robots, which are being used in this international competition to quickly and accurately map the ocean floor. Team KUROSHIO has participated in this competition over the past three years, and after passing through the technical documentation stage and an actual ocean test in Round 1, the team has advanced to Round 2, the final round, to be held in October 2018.

Justin Short has joined Chris-Craft as Regional Sales Director.    Justin found his way into the marine industry via SHOCO, a marine distribution & marketing business that his family owns and operates. Having spent the last 10 years with the Yamaha Marine Group, Justin comes to Chris-Craft with an extensive marine industry background in both sales and operations management.  At Yamaha, Justin served as a District Manager in the Mid-Atlantic for many years and was most recently the Supervisor of Operations and Supply Chain Management.

Hanjin Says US-bound Ship is Being Held 'Hostage'

A lawyer for Hanjin Shipping Co Ltd , the failed South Korean container carrier, said on Thursday a U.S.-bound vessel was held "hostage" by disputes over payments, adding to the struggles in getting $14 billion of cargo off its ships stranded at sea. "There is no clear visibility yet on what will happen with this business," Hanjin lawyer Ilana Volkov said at a hearing, when asked by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge John Sherwood whether Hanjin was liquidating. On July 1, 2016, David Pougher, Principal of Deep Consultancy, will take over the role of British Marine President from Fiona Pankhurst who has held the position since 2014. Pougher has been involved in the U.K. marine industry for over 35 years, retiring from his position at Yamaha as Divisional Manager, Marine and All Terrain Business in 2013. Pougher then set up Deep Consultancy, a marine business consultancy specializing in SME’s and maintaining a business interest in Yamarin Boats from Finland, Selva Marine/Marlin RIBS from Italy and the PWP (Personal Watercraft Partnership).

GOST System Tracks Stolen Boat in Abacos

Brunswick Deliver Law Enforcement Boston Whaler

Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) deliver a Boston Whaler 27' Vigilant patrol boat to the Ottawa County (MI) Sheriff's office. The Sheriff's office is tasked with law patrol, law enforcement, and fire suppression activities for the local river, which includes three harbors and a power plant, and to fulfill these tasks, the Sheriff's Office chose a commercially built Boston Whaler walkaround cabin model. The boat is powered by twin Yamaha engines, and includes the newest fire pump offering from BCGP, a 130 hp Mercruiser that mounts inside the cabin, leaving the deck clear.

Gold Dredging Vessel Delivered

The 50-foot vessel, designed by Anderson Associates, & built by Pacifica has been delivered for gold dredging near Nome, Alaska. Anderson Associates, a Bremerton-based multidisciplinary engineering services firm, recently completed design of a new dredge vessel for Pacifica, a Seattle-based vehicle assembler. The vessel was designed specifically to meet the unique requirements of sub-surface dredging operations in the remote coastal waters of the Bering Sea, and is powered by twin 300HP Yamaha outboards.

U.S. Shipyard, Silver Ships, Delivers Passenger Vessel to Nigeria

Alabama shipbuilders, Silver Ships, deliver a 30-foot passenger vessel to the U.S. The newbuild will join a sister vessel delivered several years ago to the same owner. The all aluminum passenger vessel will operate in the waters surrounding Lagos and has seating for 30 passengers. It is propelled by twin 250 h.p. Yamaha outboard engines and a 250-gallon fuel tank is provided. A full-length aluminum canopy will protect passengers from the extreme heat and inclement weather that is prevalent in Nigeria.

Moose Boats Delivers M2-35 Patrol Boats

Moose Boats, a boat designer and manufacturer in the San Francisco Bay Area, has delivered the first two M2-35 Patrol Boats on its existing eight boat contract signed in September 2009. Moose Boats has constructed and delivered 28 patrol boats for the U.S. Navy under five separate contracts. The M2-35 boats will be deployed for harbor security in Norfolk Va. and used to detect, identify, warn, disable or defeat potential threats in the vicinity of vulnerable U.S. Naval assets. Silver Ships Delivers Patrol Boats to NC Sheriffs

Silver Ships, Inc. recently delivered two 27’ Patrol Boats to the New Hanover and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Departments. The vessels will be tasked with patrolling the Intracoastal Waterways, the Cape Fear River and coastal waters as well as the surrounding estuaries and barrier islands within the jurisdiction of the New Hanover & Brunswick Counties, North Carolina. The 27-foot, deep vee, vessels were designed and configured to meet the mission requirements for extended patrol, emergency response and fast pursuit when necessary.
