Following the purchase of Transas by Wärtsilä, Transas' ubiquitous CEO Frank Coles will depart the newly merged company, finding a spot on top as the CEO of Wallem Group. Two Supramaxes Join Wallem’s Managed Fleet

Wallem Commercial Services said two new Supramax vessels have been added to its commercially-managed fleet.   Nitin Mathur, Managing Director of Wallem Group Singapore, said the two new vessels bring the total number of ships under Wallem’s current commercial management to 20.

Brown Named Bureau Veritas Communications Director

Nick Brown has been appointed Bureau Veritas’ new Communications Director, Marine & Offshore Division, the classification society announced. Brown will take up the post from November 2, 2016, replacing Philippe Boisson, who will retire after more than 25 years in the role. Brown joins Bureau Veritas from Lloyd’s Register where he has spent the last nine years, most recently as Head of Brand & External Affairs, Marine & Offshore. He has 25 years of shipping industry experience, starting as a commercial trainee with the Wallem Group in Hong Kong.

Liu Joins Wallem Ship Management China

Wallem Group has appointed Mingfa Liu to the newly established role of managing director at Wallem Ship Management China. Liu will concentrate on Wallem’s relationships with shipyards and drydocks in China, and represent Wallem’s ship management and technical services to the country’s large number of ship owners. In his career Liu sailed as a marine engineer before coming ashore to work in the ship management industry. His management career has developed through senior roles in Hong Kong, U.K.

Fared Khan, Fleet Personnel DirectorFared Khan has been appointed as Wallem Ship Management’s new Fleet Personnel Director, spearheading the company’s recruitment and retention of professional seafarers. Fared is based in Wallem’s Hong Kong head office. Amver Awards Presented to Wallem-Managed Fleet

More than 10 percent of Wallem’ Ship Managements fleet was presented with Amver (Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System) Awards by Captain Michael H. Sim, United States Coast Guard Liaison Officer to China, in Hong Kong today. Simon Doughty, Wallem Group CEO, received the Awards on behalf of the crew on board each of the vessels recognised for their involvement. “Assistance at sea is the oldest maritime obligations, and I am proud to be associated with the Wallem seafarers who uphold this worthy tradition,” Doughty said.

Chin to Lead Wallem Ship Agency

Wallem Ship Agency, a service sector in Wallem Group’s maritime solutions value proposition, has a new leader in Dickson Chin, who has been promoted to the position of Managing Director. Dickson Chin has been with Wallem Ship Agencies since 2008, initially in the role of General Manger for the Hong Kong ship agency business, and in 2012 was promoted to Managing Director for Indo-China. Hong Kong Ship Managers Wallem Set Up Singapore Unit

Growth in specialist ship management services leads HK-based Wallem Group to open its first ship management & broking operation in Singapore. The move into Singapore comes six months after Wallem formed a ship management joint venture with mainland shipowner Nanjing Tanker in Singapore, reports the 'South China Morning Post). Captain Deepak Honawar, a director of Wallem Shipmanagement, considered that launching in Singapore would provide more space for the company to grow its Hong Kong ship management business.

LMS Shipmanagement & Wallem Group team up to provide ship management, crewing, & marine technical services. International Shipholding Corporation (ISH) announce that LMS Shipmanagement, Inc., its wholly-owned subsidiary, and Wallem Group Ltd. have agreed to form an alliance encompassing the ship management, crewing, and marine technical services for ISH’s International Flag vessels. While LMS and Wallem will continue to operate independently, the alliance provides that, based on expertise, the daily functions will be divided between the two companies.
