Aden Appointed Managing Director, V.Ships Germany

V.Group has announced the appointment of Nils Aden as Managing Director of V.Ships Germany in Hamburg.Aden joins V.Group from Zeaborn Ship Management, where he held the position of Chief Executive Officer, with overall responsibility for ship management activities, 300 colleagues ashore and 4,250 at sea. He has also been an executive board member since 2013.He joined E.R.Schiffahrt in 2010 and since then has held a number of key roles, including Senior Project Manager and Managing Director with responsibility for chartering, marine operations, customer relations and insurance.

V.Ships Wins Magellan Explorer Contract

The global marine and offshore vessel management and support services provider V.Group said that its V.Ships Leisure unit has been awarded a contract by Antarctica21 for the technical management of the expedition vessel, Magellan Explorer.The 100-guest Magellan Explorer is currently under construction at Asenav in Chile and due to be delivered in October 2019, the ship management company company said.The vessel, which is being built to the new polar code and is uniquely customised for fly-cruises in Antarctica…

Marlins Approved Test Centres Open in Panama, Ethiopia

Marlins, V.Group’s training business, has approved two new test centres in Panama and Ethiopia. The test centre in Panama is the first Marlins approved test centre in Central America. V.Group Acquires Graig Ship Management

Marine and offshore vessel management and support services provider V.Group said it has acquired Graig Ship Management Ltd, part of Graig Shipping PLC, which has developed a reputation for new build supervision and ship management of dry bulk vessels. This reputation, which has its roots as part of Graig Shipping PLC’s 100 year history and is supported by a global maritime workforce, has grown steadily over the past 25 years. V.Group Appoints Ian El-Mokadem as CEO

UK-based ship management company V.Group announced the appointment of Ian El-Mokadem as Chief Executive Officer and Martin Gaard Christiansen as Chief Commercial Officer. Both will assume their positions in the autumn. Ian joins from Exova, the global provider of technically demanding testing, calibration and related advisory services, where he served as Chief Executive for the last six years. V.Group Aims to Simplify Organization Structure

V.Group has announced plans for a new simpler organization structure, which it said aims to make customers the focus of decision making and to set new standards in ship management and marine services performance. As part of the changes, V.Group’s regional technical operations will report directly to the CEO, and regional operations will be supported by a number of specialist functions. According to V.Group, the new structure will eliminate unnecessary reporting layers, clearly define accountability and enable increased investment in group-wide talent development, systems and technologies.

V.Group Announces New Leadership

Following the appointment of Chairman, John Pattullo and non-executive director Jesper Kjaedegaard on 9 March, V.Group has announced its decision to appoint a new CEO to start in Q4 2017. This decision was taken jointly with Clive Richardson who has successfully led the company since 2009. He will be stepping down from the CEO role before the end of May and will be replaced by Hanne Sorensen who will act as interim CEO until a full time CEO takes over later this year. The search for a new CEO is well advanced and a further announcement in this regard will be made in due course.

Diversity and Inclusion at Sea Course Goes Live

Marlins, V.Group’s training business and Human Rights at Sea collaboration on a Diversity and Inclusion at Sea e-learning course is now available and being offered free of charge to individual seafarers for a limited time via Marlin’s online shop. The collaboration, which was announced in September 2016 at the inaugural International Maritime Human Rights conference in London, includes input from Apostleship of the Sea and the UK Royal Navy diversity team – Compass. It is the only e-learning course of its kind, which specifically tackles the topic of diversity and inclusion for seafarers.

Advent to Acquire Majority Stake in V.Group

Advent International has agreed to acquire a majority ownership interest in marine and offshore vessel management and support services provider V.Group Ltd. from OMERS Private Equity (OPE). V.Group’s management team will retain a minority stake in the company, and OPE will reinvest in V.Group, working with Advent and the management team. V.Group Acquires Selandia Ship Management Group

V.Group has acquired Selandia Holdings Pte. Ltd and its subsidiaries comprising the Selandia Ship Management Group as part of its strategy to offer clients high quality outsourced marine services from Asia. Founded originally in Mumbai, India in 1995, Selandia will continue to operate as an independent ship management brand within the V.Group portfolio. Combining the independent operations of Selandia with V.Group’s existing portfolio, V.Group said it now offers the largest ship management fulfillment capability from India and has the widest access to Indian seafarers.

V.Ships Wins Fortress Deal

V.Ships Offshore, part of V.Group has been awarded a ship management contract by Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure Investors LLC to provide full technical and crew management services for an advanced SURF/IMR vessel. The ship management services will be delivered from our newly acquired Bibby Ship Management office in Singapore led by Arvind Mohan. Nineteen specialised seafarers, with final complement subject to project requirements, are being deployed on board the 2014-built DP-3 vessel, Pride, which has been on charter in Malaysian waters.

V-Ships, Empros Team Up on Bulk Carrier Management

V.Ships, part of the V.Group, has entered into a partnership with Empros Lines to create a dedicated bulk carrier management cell in Greece. The cell will be staffed by the Empros’ technical team and hosted in the Piraeus office of V.Ships Greece. The partnership builds on the successful container cell established in 2013 with Costamare and further demonstrates V.Group’s commitment to the Greek shipping industry. A steering committee formed of senior executives from both V.Ships and Empros Lines will oversee the cell’s operations.

V.Group Inaugurates New Center in Manila

Maritime services provider V.Group, together with its third party ship management arm, V.Ships, are celebrating the inauguration of a new office and training center in Manila, Philippines. The recently opened center is located in the Philippines’ Aseana City district. Ocupying 6,700 square meters over five floors of the new Aseana II building, the state-of-the-art facility is the single biggest investment by V.Group in its history and is intended to become a center of excellence for the group.

Maritime services provider V.Group has appointed Sheila Armstrong to the newly created position, head of communications.   Based in the company’s V.Ships office in Glasgow, Armstrong will report directly to Executive Director, Bob Bishop.     Previously head of communications at Inchcape Shipping Services, Armstrong brings to the role communications experience primarily gained in the maritime services sector.
