Mercury Marine Technician Certification Program Launched

Universal Technical Institute, a provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians, is launching the first Mercury Marine technician career training certification program at its Marine Mechanics Institute (MMI) campus in Orlando. Marine Technician Specialist program students now can pursue and achieve provisional certification as factory-certified technicians for Mercury Marine outboard products.

San Diego Military2Maritime Career Fair with Rep. Hunter (R-CA) Connects California Veterans With Opportunity. More than one hundred veterans attended a Military2Maritime career fair on Monday June 22, 2015 from 10:00am until 2:00pm at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier in San Diego, Ca. The free event, sponsored by the American Maritime Partnership (AMP) and hosted by the Port of San Diego, is part of a nationwide program to help connect the nation’s servicemen and women with jobs in the American maritime industry.

Houston May Outgrow its Skilled Labor Supply

Bustling Houston, one of the bright spots in the U.S. economy, is growing so fast that business leaders fear running out of skilled labor as billions are spent building new energy infrastructure on the Gulf Coast. The Greater Houston Partnership, the business chamber for the 10-county region, on Monday launched a training plan with companies, junior colleges, high schools and social service agencies to prepare people for thousands of new jobs being created for welders, pipefitters and plumbers.
