CMA CGM Aims to be Carbon Neutral by 2050

Turbine Foundations Shipped for Virginia Offshore Wind Farm

The first foundations for Dominion Energy's Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind pilot project have been shipped from Germany to Canada for eventual installation 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, Va.On March 31, the foundation components for two 6MW Siemens Gamesa windmills were loaded onto the Netherlands-flagged BigRoll Beaufort at the EEW facility in Rostock, Germany. In order to be able to transport all wind equipment in the most safe way, the in-house engineers of Roll Group have designed dedicated grillage for Jan De Nul, the contractor who will install the turbines.

Maersk and Other Danish Firms Partner for Sustainable Fuels Project

A group of Danish transportation and energy companies including shipping giant A.P. Moller - Maersk have teamed up to develop an industrial-scale production facility to produce sustainable fuels for road, maritime and air transport in the Copenhagen area.Maersk is joined in the project by DFDS, Ørsted, Copenhagen Airports, SAS and DSV Panalpina, who have brought together the demand and supply side of sustainable fuels to develop a new hydrogen and e-fuel production facility as soon as 2023.

Copenhagen Port Sheds 55 Workers

The financial consequences due to the crisis with the coronavirus pandemic are of such a significant scope that Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) gave notice of termination to 55 employees in Copenhagen, including both dockworkers and office workers.CMP already gave notice of termination in April to 40 employees in Malmö, which as Scandinavia’s largest port terminal for new cars, has been particularly hard hit by the global downturn in vehicle production. In fact, the crisis has resulted in a marked decline across all of CMP’s business areas.

LNG Carrier Delivered to Nakilat

Qatari shipping company Nakilat took delivery of a newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Global Energy. Built by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), the vessel will be managed in-house by Nakilat and is the first of four LNG carrier newbuilds to be delivered to Global Shipping Co. Monthly cargo volumes at Port Houston declined in April as the coronavirus outbreak continued to impact commerce in the U.S. and across the world.Port Houston, the 6th largest container port in the U.S., handled a total of 221,540 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in April, down 12% from the 252,693 TEUs in April 2019. For the full year, however, Port Houston handled 994,627 TEUs through April, which is 5% more than the first four months of 2019.Total tonnage at Port Houston’s public facilities was down 10% in the month of April at 3,766,756 short tons, a decrease of 3% year-to-date.
