Lunøe Appointed CEO of Telenor Maritime
Telenor Maritime’s Board of Directors has appointed Lars Erik Lunøe as CEO of Telenor Maritime. He will take up his new role as of February 1, 2019.Lunøe has extensive national and international leadership experience from the maritime sector and has most recently headed the UK-based Survitec Fire Solutions as Managing Director and Managing Director of Maritime Protection. Knut Fjellheim, who has served as interim-CEO, returns to his role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Telenor Maritime.

Telenor Maritime has acquired SatPoint AB, a firm with a strong position in the Baltic Sea with more than 125 maritime broadband installations on ferries, merchant vessels, and floating accommodation units. The merger is dependent on approval from competition laws. SatPoint AB is a provider of broadband satellite communication and IT services for maritime customers in Europe and across the globe, delivering VSAT equipment and capacity, teleport, and operations, enabling services such as VoIP, GSM, VoD, and TV. SatPoint AB was founded in 2002 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Intellian v-Series Antennas Approved for THOR 7
Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) said that Intellian’s v-series antennas have been approved for use on its forthcoming satellite, THOR 7. The satellite, expected to start commercial service in 2015, is equipped with an HTS/Ka-band payload, which has been specifically designed for the mobility VSAT market, offering high-powered regional coverage with a favourable look angle over the main European shipping lanes. The Intellian v-series antennas already support Ku-band services on the existing THOR satellite fleet, providing TSBc customers with exceptional performance and redundancy.
MCP Appoints Støldal CEO
MCP’s Board of Directors appointed Frode Støldal as new CEO for the Telenor subsidiary. Støldal replaces MCPs founder, Knut Fjellheim, who has served as interim-CEO and now returns to his previous role as COO/CTO. Frode Støldal has vast management experience from across the Telenor-Group. Prior to his role as CTO in Telenor Norway where he was responsible for deploying a new LTE (4G) network, Støldal served as Head of Technology for Telenor in Asia, responsible for industrialization and common technology projects across Telenor Group.
MCP Hires Two Senior Executives
Maritime Communication Partner (MCP), a global provider of onboard communications solutions, has announced the recruitment of two highly experienced senior executives to lead its dedicated Offshore and Cruise and Ferry Business Units. Tom Lowehr, until recently the Head of Program Management at Astrium Business Communication, has joined as Senior Vice President (SVP) of the newly launched Offshore business unit, while Lars Munkso, formerly of US stock-listed energy services group Cameron, becomes SVP of the Cruise and Ferry business unit.
Morten Tengs - New CEO at TSBc
Morten Tengs (51) has been appointed as the new CEO at Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc). Mr. Tengs comes from the position as Senior Vice President at Telenor Group’s regional office for Asia, in Bangkok. He succeeds Cato Halsaa, who is to retire this summer. “Morten Tengs will be starting in his new role this summer.
