Maersk and Other Danish Firms Partner for Sustainable Fuels Project
A group of Danish transportation and energy companies including shipping giant A.P. Moller - Maersk have teamed up to develop an industrial-scale production facility to produce sustainable fuels for road, maritime and air transport in the Copenhagen area.Maersk is joined in the project by DFDS, Ørsted, Copenhagen Airports, SAS and DSV Panalpina, who have brought together the demand and supply side of sustainable fuels to develop a new hydrogen and e-fuel production facility as soon as 2023.
Shell, Qatargas Sign LNG Deal for Kuwait
The world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Qatargas has signed a new, long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Shell to deliver 1 million tons per annum of LNG to Kuwait, commencing this year.Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs said, “We are pleased to announce this new long term agreement between Qatargas and Shell for the supply of LNG to the State of Kuwait, following the recent agreement signed between Qatar Petroleum and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
TMA Logistics Wins SGRE Work
Dutch outfit TMA Logistics has been commissioned by Siemens Gamesa Renewables Energy (SGRE) to provide the transhipment and transhipment of wind turbines for Windpark Fryslân.Wind farm Fryslan comprises 89 wind turbines that will be realised in the Frisian part of the IJsselmeer, near Breezanddijk. The project is expected to start in August 2020 and the wind farm will supply electricity to ± 500,000 households.SGRE is carrying out the project in close cooperation with Van Oord Offshore Wind BV. Van Oord is laying the foundations and laying the cables and monopiles.

IBEW Statement on Obama's Clean Power Plan
The IBEW is carefully studying the finalized Clean Power Plan issued by President Obama yesterday. As the largest union of electrical workers in the nation, we expressed concerns over the initial draft of the proposed EPA carbon emission regulations that in our opinion substituted wishful thinking for reality, threatening grid reliability and good jobs, while having a minimal impact on global carbon emissions. We feel those concerns are still valid. However, we are pleased that the EPA took into account many of our criticisms, voiced at hearings held around the country last summer.
Fugro to Investigate Wind Farm Sites
Fugro and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, have signed two contracts to investigate the Borssele wind area, off the Zeeland coast. The workscope includes measuring meteorological and oceanographic conditions and performing geophysical investigations of the seabed. Fugro will measure wind speeds at the future wind farm locations using its Seawatch Wind LiDAR , a device that uses laser beams to collect meteorological data from a floating buoy.
