India Okays Marititme MoU with Denmark

Inland Containerized Shipping Comes to India

Marking India’s first containerized movement on inland waterways, PepsiCo India became the first company to use containerized vessel movement for transporting products from its plant in Kolkata to the port in Varanasi. The first containerized vessel was received by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi at the newly developed multi-modal terminal in Varanasi. India Trying to Make Chabahar Port in Iran Operational by 2019

Nitin Gadkari, the Union  Minister for Shipping, India said in Dushanbe, that India is trying to make Chabahar Port in Iran operational by 2019. Gadkari was addressing the Indian Community at the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at the Indian Embassy in Dushanbe. He said the opening up of the Chabahar Port would make the CIS countries more accessible. Shri Gadkari also spoke at length about the efforts and initiatives taken by his Government in the last four years to bring qualitative change in the lives of people.

Indian Minister Flags Off RORO from Chennai To Mongla

Indian Minister of Shipping Nitin Gadkari today digitally flagged off a RoRo cum general cargo vessel M.V. IDM DOODLE carrying a consignment of 185 trucks from Chennai Port to Mongla port in Bangladesh. Shri Gadkari informed that these trucks, which are being exported by M/s.Ashok Leyland Ltd, were being sent to Bangladesh through the land route till now, travelling a distance of about 1500 km. Transport through the  sea route will save about 15-20 days of travel time. For this trip alone that involves transport of 185 trucks…

Cabinet Approves Renaming of Kandla Port

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval to the renaming of Kandla Port as Deendayal Port. Ports in India are generally named after the city or town in which these are situated. However, the Government, in special cases, after due consideration, have renamed the Ports after great leaders in the past. By renaming Kandla Port as "Deendayal Port, Kandla", a grateful nation would be remembering the invaluable contributions made by one of the greatest sons of India, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

Kandla Port Renamed as Deendayal Port

The Indian Ministry of Shipping has issued a notification renaming Kandla Port Trust as Deendayal Port Trust with effect from 25th of September, 2017. Kandla Port, located on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat, is one of the twelve major ports in the country. As per the Ministry’s notification, the Central Government, in exercise of powers conferred on it under Indian Ports Act, 1908, made the amendment to replace “Kandla” with “Deendayal”. Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers signs MoU with Indian Maritime University

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, the maritime industry’s only body dedicated to professional education, has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Maritime University.
