Greece to Quarantine all Arrivals from Abroad

Greece announced on Monday it will shut all shops apart from supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, petrol stations and food delivery services, and put anyone arriving from abroad into quarantine for two weeks, to fight the coronavirus.Greece had already cancelled mass gatherings and closed bars, restaurants, playgrounds and gyms. So far the country has reported 331 confirmed cases of infections and four fatalities. Health authorities expect the number of infections to rise.The 14 day quarantine would apply to anyone entering the country…

Global Travel Retail Leader Selects GAC Dubai

Lagardère Travel Retail has appointed GAC Dubai’s Contract Logistics team to handle a range of goods sold at Duty Free retail stores at airports in Saudi Arabia and the future Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC).Under the multi-year agreement signed by the two companies commencing March 1st, 2019, GAC Dubai will take care of the port haulage, receipt, storage, pick/pack, transportation, customs clearance and Federal Tax Authority documentation for goods including chocolates, fine foods, fashion, beverages, electronics, cigarettes and cigars, personal care, perfumery and make-up.

NYK Auto Logistics Pact with Adani Logistics

NYK Auto Logistics India (NALI), an NYK Group company, signed an agreement with Adani Logistics(ALL) to form a joint venture that specializes in the transportation of finished vehicles using automobile freight trains.The automotive production volume is expected to further increase in India, and there is increasing demand for transporting vehicles by rail, which places less of a load on the environment.NALI currently provides an integrated transport service for finished cars in India…

Port of Los Angeles Moves 808,728 TEUs in January

Last  month was the second busiest in the Port's history. The Port of Los Angeles handled 808,728 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in January 2018, the second-busiest January in the port’s history behind last January’s record of 826,640 TEUs. While a slight decrease compared to last January’s record, it’s significantly higher than the port’s most recent 5-year January average of 683,003 TEUs. "After two consecutive years of record-breaking cargo, it’s encouraging to start 2018 with robust volumes,” said Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka.

Valentine's Day in Full Bloom at CrowleyFresh

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s cold storage warehouse and logistics services company in Miami prepared more than 35,000 floral arrangements for this year's Valentine's Day. For the past six weeks, CrowleyFresh employees have been hard at work receiving, assembling and preparing more than 20,000 flower orders, 2,500 of which also contained specialty chocolates. Additionally, the warehouse handled more than 11,000 buckets of fresh cut flowers equating to more than 100,000 bouquets for distribution throughout the U.S. for buyers who prefer to handpick individual flowers from local retail stores.
