Richards Appointed CEO For 3Si Group

Safety and Survival Systems International Ltd (3Si) has announced the appointment of new CEO, Andrew Richards. Richards joins the group, whose companies include Ocean Safety, Typhoon International, International Safety Products, 3Si Offshore and Revere Survival, in mid-May. Richards has over 20 years’ experience in the safety sector of the marine industry. Most recently he was CEO of marine refurbishing business Trimline, and prior to that Managing Director of Cosalt PLC’s Marine Division, and Global Marine and Leisure Sales Director for Survitec.

Ocean Safety Appoints Senior SOLAS Market Manager

Simon O’Connell takes up the appointment of Senior SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Market Manager at Ocean Safety, focussing on sales to customers in the international maritime and offshore sectors of SOLAS approved safety products. Ocean Safety Reminds of Medical Kit Buying Rules

Ocean Safety are reminding vessel operators of the rules set out by the UK Government’s medicine regulator MHRA (Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) for buying the necessary Category C First Aid Kit for all coded boats. Ocean Safety, who are specialists in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of marine safety equipment, have invested heavily in acquiring the correct license to be able to supply the Cat C Kit direct to customers. India, Thailand Firm up Maritime Ties

India and Thailand are set to firm up cooperation to combat terrorism, and boost maritime security, defence ties and trade during Thai Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha’s maiden visit to India, reports PTI. Prayut has earlier said that maritime security cooperation in the Indian Ocean would be put on the table for talks with his Indian counterpart. The expected cooperation will include military exercises, information exchange and operations to eradicate terrorism and piracy, he said.

Ten Boaters Saved Near Kahala, Oahu

The Coast Guard, Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services and Honolulu Fire Department personnel rescued 10 boaters in two separate cases off Kahala, Oahu, Sunday. In both cases responders were able to locate all survivors, bring them aboard response craft and get them to safety. At 10:04 a.m. the Coast Guard overheard Ocean Safety personnel responding to a report of a 15-foot vessel taking on water with three people aboard a mile and a half south of Kahala. Ocean Safety located all three boaters, took them aboard their jet skis and brought them to shore.

Search on for Kayak Owner near Makapu'u Beach, Oahu

The Coast Guard is searching for the owner of an unmanned kayak found on the rocks near Makapu'u Beach, Oahu, Saturday. Anyone with information that may help identify the owner of the kayak is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at 808-842-2600808-842-2600 FREE FREE. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point is currently searching the area. Sector Honolulu also issued an urgent marine information broadcast alerting mariners in the area to the situation.

ISP Appoints Tinkler as Head of Sales

ISP (International Safety Products), whose global portfolio of marine safety products and services covers commercial, leisure and military markets, have announced the appointment of James Tinkler as Head of Sales. Tinkler, who was formerly International Marine Sales Manager and then Marine Brand Manager at Henri Lloyd for 10 years, will primarily focus on managing and developing the international business of ISP and controlling the development of the company’s range of products. ISP is part of the 3Si group, along with other leading safety names including Ocean Safety, Typhoon and Revere.

Typhoon Appoints Willis as UK Sales Manager

Typhoon International, a manufacturer of drysuits, and a major player in the diving and watersports markets, has appointed Ben Willis as UK Commercial Sales Manager. Willis joins the company at an exciting time as Typhoon aligns its activities with those of its sister companies Ocean Safety and ISP, each providing a wide range of safety products. In his role Willis will focus on the Emergency sector, (including Police, Fire, environmental, waterways, windfarms and rescue organizations), working with the other 3Si companies, to provide a complete package into this sector.

Ocean Safety, Richard Irvin Marine Safety Merger

Ocean Safety has today announced the merger with Richard Irvin Energy Solutions Marine Safety Division and their Aberdeen branch. This merger follows the 3Si Group’s recent acquisition of both companies, which are set to combine premises in Aberdeen to operate from a single expanded facility. The consolidation into the new 5,000sq ft space will facilitate the growth of the workforce, increasing sales efficiency and servicing capabilities in both the onshore and offshore maritime sector.

3Si Group Acquires Richard Irvin Marine Safety

Safety and Survival Systems International Ltd (3Si) has announced their latest acquisition, Richard Irvin Energy Solutions Marine Safety Division in Scotland, for an undisclosed sum.  The Aberdeen based business is a key supplier into the offshore industry with a variety of safety products and services.   The Richard Irvin Marine Safety business will join Ocean Safety, Typhoon International and International Safety Products alongside Revere Survival Inc. within the group, to further complement the growing portfolio of products and services offered.

USCG & Ocean Safety Rescue Kayakers on Molokini Crater

The Coast Guard and Ocean Safety rescued two kayakers trapped on Molokini Crater Monday. Watchstanders at Sector Honolulu Command Center received notification at 3:20 p.m. from Maui Fire Department of two kayakers who were beset by weather and were forced onto the rocks on Molokini Crater. After climbing to safety, the kayakers called 911 for assistance. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Station Maui and a jet ski from Ocean Safety responded. At 3:46 p.m., the jet ski arrived on scene and ferried the kayakers from the rock to the awaiting RB-M.

Bockett Named Ocean Safety Training Manager

The UK’s largest independent safety supplier, Ocean Safety, have made a key appointment at their Southampton Branch and is pleased to announce that Steve Bockett has accepted the position of Training Manager. Steve has spent four years at Ocean Safety in Southampton as Servicing Manager, during which time he has gained the valuable skills and technical expertise to more than fulfil the demanding Training Manager role. Steve will be actively involved in the development of Ocean Safety’s international service station network, as well as the introduction of internal training programs.

The UK’s largest independent marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, has made a key promotion with the appointment of Mandy Boughton as Business Development Manager. Mandy will take on the role, newly created in response to the company’s continued growth, of developing new business  and assisting the Sales Director in future strategy and policies across the market sectors. With a BSC in Yacht Manufacturing and Surveying Mandy has worked in the marine industry for 20 years. She was previously Ocean Safety's Sales Office Manager.

Ocean Safety Completes Arctic Safety Training

Ocean Safety training for ICE-SAR and Sonar in cold Icelandic waters. The UK’s largest independent marine safety equipment supplier, Ocean Safety, has just completed a chilly training session to safety authorities in Iceland in conjunction with the company’s Iceland service agent Sónar EHF, to demonstrate vital life saving equipment manufactured by the company. Andy Bracewell, Export  Manager at Ocean Safety, led a team which demonstrated the capabilities of the Kannad SafeLink R10 AIS Survivor Recovery System (SRS) to service technicians at Sónar EHF, based in Reykjavík.
