U.S. Coast Guard Honors Foss Exec Johnson
The U.S. Coast Guard awarded Grant Johnson, Foss Maritime's Vice President for Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (HSQE), with a Meritorious Public Service Award in recognition of his achievements as a member and Vice Chair of the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee. The award is the Coast Guard’s second highest service award, and was presented at a meeting of the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee on March 28, in New Orleans. Johnson joined the committee in 2011 and has served as Vice Chair for the last five years.
Global Diving & Salvage Hires VP in Houston
Global Diving & Salvage, Inc. has hired Mike Brown as Vice President of Energy Services, working from the company’s Houston office. In his new position Brown, will focus his efforts to increase Global's position in the domestic and international energy market and will be directly responsible for developing business opportunities and providing oversight on operations for these clients as well as oversee Global’s saturation and deep diving operations throughout the company. Brown brings with him more than 38 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry.
Faststream Awards Inaugural Leadership Scholarship
Faststream today named Chad Fuhrmann the recipient of its inaugural Scholarship for Leadership Excellence. The scholarship, valued at $9,500, will afford Fuhrmann the opportunity to attend a continuing education program hosted by Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute. Fuhrmann is the business director for the Americas at Maritime Assurance and Consulting, Ltd. (MAC), where he is responsible for all U.S. operations. He previously held leadership roles at DNV GL, GL Noble Denton, and Oceaneering International.
Chouest Appointed to Port of New Orleans Board
Governor Bobby Jindal appointed south Louisiana businessman and entrepreneur Laney J. Chouest to the Board of the Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans. Chouest, who was sworn in during today’s Board meeting, will serve a five-year term, succeeding Joseph F. Toomy, one of two Jefferson Parish representatives on the regional Board that governs Port operations in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes. A native of Galliano, La. and resident of New Orleans, Chouest is the owner and developer of NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, La.
Harkand Names Brown to Gulf of Mexico Management Team
Global inspection, repair, maintenance (IRM) and light construction company Harkand informs it has made a key appointment by securing Mike Brown as general manager of diving services in North America. A U.S. Navy veteran, Brown has considerable experience of commercial diving in the offshore oil and gas sector having held number of senior positions in a career spanning more than 35 years. He was most recently working with Chet Morrison Contractors as general manager of the offshore construction division.
Chet Morrison Names New Marine Construction GM
Chet Morrison Contractors recently announced the hiring of industry veteran Michael Brown as General Manager of Marine Construction. Brown has 35 years of experience in the commercial diving industry, most recentlyan eight-year tenure as Vice President and General Manager for EPIC, the commercial diving business unit of TETRA. Brown is an active member of several industry associations and committees, including the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC) where he is serving a three-year term as Offshore Diving Representative.
