NMRA Offers Scholarship to Maritime Student

Aiming to contribute to the future of the marine industry, the National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) announced it is offering a $3,000 scholarship to an outstanding individual pursuing education and a career in the maritime trades. High school seniors, and college and vocational students are encouraged to apply. “Bringing energetic, talented young people into the marine trades is vital to the collective health of our industry,” said Keith LaMarr, NMRA president. The NMRA began the program in 2008. The application can be downloaded at bit.ly/2i3tIlE and is due April 1, 2017.

NMRA Elects New Officers and Board of Directors

The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) has elected its officers and board of directors to govern the organization in 2016-2017. One new officer and two board members join the leadership group. Keith LaMarr of Macaroni Marketing was elected NMRA president and Neal Trombley of Gulf Atlantic Marketing is vice-president. Clayton Smith of Waters & David Co. is the new treasurer and Patrick Churchman of Midwest Outdoor Marketing left the NMRA board of directors to serve as secretary. Rob Gueterman of GSW & Associates is the current past president.

Scholarships Offered for Students of Maritime Trades

Since 2008, the National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) has contributed to the future of the marine industry with scholarships to individuals pursuing education and a career in the maritime trades. This year, the group will award two $1,500 scholarships to outstanding students. High school seniors, and college and vocational students can request an application from NMRA at info@nmraonline.org. Schools are encouraged to promote this to their students. Applications are due on July 1, 2016. Winners will be announced this summer.

NMMA President Helps Kick Off NMRA Scholarship Fund

A friendly competition during the National Marine Representatives Association's (NMRA) yearly Rep Night at IBEX benefitted students in the marine trades. Past NMRA president Rick Silverlake and National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) president Thom Dammrich challenged each other with $100 contributions to the NMRA scholarship fund. NMRA has given up to $4,500 in years past to outstanding students pursuing industry careers. Silverlake has since secured $300 more in pledges for the 2016 scholarship fund, which now stands at $1,500.

Kings Point Student Earns NMRA Scholarship

The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) recently awarded its second $500 scholarship to a student pursuing education in the marine industry and maritime trades. Jacqueline Weymann, of Kings Point, New York, was honored in a presentation made by NMRA past president Norm MacLeod, ComMar Sales vice-president. Originally from San Diego, California, Midshipman Weymann is a student at the United States Merchant Marine Academy and is pursuing a bachelor's of science degree in intermodal transportation and logistics. Her expected graduation date is June 2015.

NMRA Elects New Officers and Board Members

The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) has elected its 2014-2015 officers and board members. Two new officers and three new board members joined the association's leadership group. Brandon Flack of Atlantic Marketing Co., Stonington, Connecticut has been elected to president, while Rob Gueterman of GSW & Associates, Tampa, Florida is now vice president. Keith LaMarr of Macaroni Marketing, Watsonville, California now serves as NMRA's new treasurer. Neil Trombley of Gulf Atlantic Marketing, N. Ft. Meyers, Florida joins NMRA's board as secretary.

NMRA Awards Scholarship to Yacht Design Students

The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) awarded two scholarships to students pursuing careers in the field. Noah Luff of Ventura, California is one of the recipients of the association's $500 scholarship. Keith LaMarr and Chris Martorana of Macaroni Marketing made the presentation. In Fall 2014, Luff will attend California Maritime Academy and study marine transportation. Growing up in a coastal town, he's also served as an ocean lifeguard and plans to become an active member of the maritime industry once he graduates in 2018.

One new officer and three new board members are joining the association's leadership group. Chris Kelly of Waters & David Co., New Orleans, Louisiana, is now president. Kathy Munzinger of Munzinger & Co., Springfield, Missouri, has been elected vice president and Ken Smaga of ComMar Sales LLC, Land O' Lakes, Florida, is now treasurer. Brandon Flack of Atlantic Marketing Co., Stonington, Connecticut, joins the officers as NMRA's new secretary.
