Scholten Joins ABYC as Technical Vice President

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) announced that Craig Scholten has joined the association as technical vice president. Brining 33 years of boating industry experience to the role, Scholten will oversee the ABYC technical department and be responsible for ABYC’s relationship with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and compliance with Europe’s Recreational Craft Directive (RCD). Scholten will also work with the membership department to help add value to new and existing members from a technical resource perspective.

Volvo Penta Wins NMMA's CSI Award

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has presented the 13th consecutive annual Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) award to Volvo Penta for its gasoline sterndrive engines. The CSI awards, presented at the Miami International Boat Show Feb. 11, recognize boat and engine manufacturers for excellence in customer satisfaction. Volvo Penta was the only company to win a CSI award in the sterndrive category this year. BRP Wins Industry Award for Rotax Innovation

BRP’s Rotax Intelligent Shift and Throttle (iST) system was recognized by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) with an Innovation Award in the Jet Boat category at the 2016 Miami International Boat Show. The game-changing iST option for Rotax jet propulsion systems brings electronic control to formerly mechanical functions. Now available on nearly all Scarab jet boat models and Chaparral Vortex models, iST allows boaters to optimize low-speed maneuverability in a variety of environmental conditions.

NMMA President Helps Kick Off NMRA Scholarship Fund

A friendly competition during the National Marine Representatives Association's (NMRA) yearly Rep Night at IBEX benefitted students in the marine trades. Past NMRA president Rick Silverlake and National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) president Thom Dammrich challenged each other with $100 contributions to the NMRA scholarship fund. NMRA has given up to $4,500 in years past to outstanding students pursuing industry careers. Silverlake has since secured $300 more in pledges for the 2016 scholarship fund, which now stands at $1,500.

Volvo Penta Wins NMMA's CSI Award

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) this week presented the 12th consecutive Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) award to Volvo Penta recognizing excellence in customer satisfaction in marine sterndrive engines. The CSI award is based on an independent survey of over 50,000 consumers purchasing a new boat or engine during the period from April 2014 through March 2015. The CSI award signifies that Volvo Penta achieved and maintained an independently measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher.

Boston Whaler Awarded for Customer Satisfaction

Boston Whaler has been recognized again for its customer service, earning a Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for the eleventh year in a row. One of 46 recipients nationwide to receive the award, Boston Whaler was recognized in the Fiberglass Outboard Boats category during the 2014 International BoatBuilders Exhibition and Conference (IBEX). The CSI Awards measure customer satisfaction, only recognizing boat and engine manufacturers that receive the highest marks.

New data from The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) show 88 million Americans expected to take to U.S. waterways this summer. NMMA add that recreational boating in the U.S. has an annual economic value of $121-billion. The industry’s rising tide supports 964,000 American jobs and 34,833 businesses, generates $40 billion in annual labor income and drives $83 billion in annual spending. The NMMA, on behalf of the U.S. boating industry, released these findings as part of its annual U.S.

NMMA Release Economic Impact Report at American Boating Congress

On May 8-9, 2013 the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) will release updated economic impact data for the recreational boating industry during the American Boating Congress. The update reflects 2012 data across the United States and has been formatted as an infographic reflecting data in a highly visual way. NMMA Ethanol Lawsuit Against U.S. EPA Dismissed

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) express disappointment at Court's E15 fuel decision. The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) said it was “disappointed” by a US court of appeals decision to dismiss its lawsuit against the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The trade group and other manufacturing associations had earlier sued EPA over its decision to allow E15 into the country’s fuel supply. Recently the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit dismissed the case on procedural grounds.

Navico announced today that its Simrad BR24 Broadband Radar, and Simrad AP24 and AP28 autopilots received awards at the 2009 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) convention held in Fort Myers, Fla.
