MSC Re-Routes Cargos Due to French Strikes

Swiss headquartered container shipping company MSC said on Friday it was implementing contingency plans to re-route container ships away from French ports when necessary due to strikes in the country."MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is closely monitoring the situation in France where industrial action by labour unions is impacting maritime ports and overland transportation networks around the country," an MSC spokesman said.MSC said it would resume normal services to France as soon as possible. (Reporting by Jonathan Saul and Gus Trompiz; Writing by Maya Nikolaeva; Editing by David Clarke)

Containers Market to Grow by 6.5%

The shipping containers market estimated to grow with a CAGR of 6.5% during the forecast period from 2018 to 2026, said a report.According to ResearchAndMarkets' latest report, the number of goods carried by shipping containers witnessed an extravagant grow from 102 million metric tons in 1980 to 1.83 billion metric tons in 2017.The quantity is projected to claim more than 60% of the world seaborne trade and almost 90% of the non-bulk cargo transported across the globe, it said.The number is quite promising and anticipated to proliferate significantly in the coming years.

Shipping company MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will lease 2,000 containers chilled by Carrier Transicold's innovative, natural refrigerant-based NaturaLINE refrigeration system. The first of its kind, the NaturaLINE unit solves the problem of how to use refrigerants effectively and efficiently – to transport valuable items such as perishable food and pharmaceuticals – while helping to protect the environment. The system utilizes repurposed carbon dioxide (CO2), the refrigerant with the lowest global warming potential (GWP) among all container refrigerants currently in use.

MSC Expands Intermodal Shipping at Trieste

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. is enhancing intermodal connections via the port of Trieste, Italy, to improve transit times for shippers moving cargo between Asia, the Mediterranean and Europe. MAN Diesel & Turbo has won the order from MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company for 11 × 23,000 TEU container vessels equipped with 11 × MAN B&W 11G95ME-C9.5 main engines. MSC, Maersk Work on Data Sharing after Cyber Attack

Swiss container line MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) is working with vessel-sharing partner Maersk to find ways to share data after a cyber attack on the Danish company, MSC said on Wednesday. MSC said it was prepared to divert ships away from affected Maersk terminals. "We are working together to find other means to transmit data between the two companies. Preferred Bidder for Durban Cruise Terminal Named

The plan to position Durban as a world-class cruise capital took a step forward with the announcement of the preferred bidder for the Durban Cruise Terminal – KwaZulu Cruise Terminal Pty Ltd (KCT) – a Joint Venture between MSC Cruises SA (a subsidiary of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA) and Africa Armada Consortium (a black empowerment partner).
