Sempra Energy Signs New Mexican LNG Terminal

Sempra Energy, the US group that aims to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility near Ensenada, Mexico, to serve customers in Asia moved closer to becoming reality as the natural gas utilities holding company  announced agreements with three international firms.The San Diego-based company announced in a press release that  that its subsidiaries Infraestructura Energetica Nova  (IEnova) and Sempra LNG & Midstream have signed three Heads of Agreements (HOAs) with affiliates of Total, Mitsui & Co. and Tokyo Gas Co.

New Digital Marketplace for Supply Chain Management

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Weathernews Inc. have joined forces to create a new digital marketplace for the maritime industry, called maruFreight. maruFreight operations will benefit from the financial support and expertise of Mitsui, one of the largest trading and investment companies in the world, and Weathernews, the largest weather routing company in the world. Based in Stamford, Connecticut, maruFreight will provide ship and cargo owners with an efficient, cost-effective platform for matching cargoes with suitable ships.

On August 18, a new container terminal built by NYK Line together with PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) (IPC), Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and PSA International Pte Ltd  opened for commercial service at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, Indonesia. This new terminal will be operated by the newly established company PT New Priok Container Terminal One. Qatargas, RWE Ink SPA Deal for LNG Deliveries

Qatargas, the World’s Premier LNG Company, today announced a flexible Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with RWE Supply Trading (RWEST), a leading European electricity and gas company. Qatargas will deliver up to 1.1 million tonnes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) per annum to RWEST in North West Europe for seven and a half years. Indonesia Plans to Build 22 Ports

Indonesia Port Corporations (IPC) or PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II, Indonesia’s state-owned port operator is to build 22 ports in the country in the next five years for an anticipated cost of around $3.5 billion. “We are targeting to build 22 ports from Belawan to Sorong within five years,” Pelindo II chief executive Richard Joost Lino said. The Indonesian port projects are to be financed by cash and loans and once completed each will have a capacity of 2.5 million TEUs.

MOL, Mitsui Ink Charter Deal

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. signed a contract with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. today (January 29) to charter a new 177,000m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier. This is the third newbuilding vessel chartered by Mitsui & Co., following a contract signed last September 26 for two carriers. MOL will manage the new vessels and transport shale gas-derived liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Cameron Project in Louisiana, the United States. Mitsui Orders 2 LNG Carriers from MHI

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) reports it has received an order for two next-generation LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers from Mitsui & Co., Ltd., scheduled for completion and delivery in 2018 and 2019, respectively. They will be put into service for the Cameron LNG Project underway in the United States, an initiative in which Mitsui is participating, marking the first order placed to MHI for LNG carriers to transport shale gas. The order for the two LNG carriers was received through MI LNG Company, Limited, a joint venture between MHI and Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

NPCT1 to Develop New CT in Jakarta

PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) (“IPC”), Mitsui & Co, Ltd. (“Mitsui”), Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (“NYK Line”) and PSA International Pte Ltd (“PSA”) have agreed to jointly participate in the construction and operation of a new container terminal at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Indonesia. This new terminal will be developed and operated by the newly established project company PT New Priok Container Terminal One (“NPCT1”). The Republic of Indonesia has in recent years experienced dramatic economic growth accompanied by a rapid increase in container traffic.

L-3 M&PS Expands in Brazil, Appoints Lobo

L-3 Marine & Power Systems (M&PS) has extended its presence into the Brazilian marketplace by opening a new office and appointing key local staff. All regional operations for the new Brazilian office will be led by Jonas Henrique Lobo. Lobo will serve as the director of business development for the L-3 Marine & Offshore Brazil office, reporting directly to Brian Pope, senior vice president of business development for L-3 M&PS. The new Brazilian office will be supported by L-3 Marine & Offshore companies in Europe, Canada and the U.S.A.
