IMTRA Mourns the Loss of Nat Bishop

IMTRA Corporation and its employees are saddened by the passing of former CEO and long-time member of the IMTRA family, Nat Bishop, after a 15-year battle with melanoma.Bishop joined IMTRA, the leading manufacturer, supplier and importer of quality marine products, in May 1974 and worked there until his retirement at the end of 2013. He spearheaded the company’s expansion effort by opening its southeast operation in Clearwater, Florida, which proved to be pivotal for the company’s growth and profitability.

Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) are bringing the maritime digital solutions of the future to life at Nor-Shipping. Unveiling their augmented reality (AR) project at the world’s biggest maritime show, this immersive, interactive tool enables visitors to view the company’s very latest products and systems, inside and out. Developed in conjunction with Austrian technology company Imagination Computer Serv. GesmbH, using their AR software ‘MagicLens’, visitors will download a reader app to their phones and scan a printed image to unlock the AR system.

Nyheim, Wang Join Wilhelmsen as Vice Presidents

As part of reshaping the executive team, the Wilhelmsen group adds two senior vice presidents to its group management team. Mr Erik Nyheim will be responsible for Wilhelmsen’s investments in ships service (marine products and agency), safety products and solutions (Survitec), governmental services and Qube, while Mr Jan Eyvin Wang will be responsible for following up ship management, insurance services, Treasure ASA and NorSea Group. “I am pleased to see Erik and Jan Eyvin joining our team,” says Thomas Wilhelmsen, group CEO at Wilhelmsen.

Eastwood to Lead Shakespeare Marine

Bill Eastwood has been appointed business manager for the Shakespeare Marine Electronics product line of Jarden Applied Materials, a business unit of Newell Brands. In his new role, Eastwood is responsible for the global sales and marketing of Shakespeare antennas and accessories, as well building upon its well-known brand to increase market share. He also oversees the continued development of connectivity technology advancements such as Wi-Fi extenders and cellular amplifiers, aimed at keeping recreational and commercial mariners connected.

Shell to Continue Philippine Mariner Training

Shell Marine has renewed its technical partnership for a further four years with the University of Cebu - Maritime Education and Training Center (UC METC). At the signing of the new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were Shell Marine Executive Director Jan Toschka, University of Cebu President Atty. Augusto W. Go. Shell Marine will provide expertise in lubrication technology to the students and lecturers of the UC METC. A technical team from Shell Marine will provide training and knowledge modules through workshops and seminars at the UC METC.

National Waterways Foundation Elects Mecklenborg as Chairman

At its November 15, 2016 meeting in Cincinnati, the National Waterways Foundation (NWF) elected the following Trustees and Officers. Dan Mecklenborg, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary, Ingram Barge Company, was elected Chairman. He succeeds Mark Knoy, President and Chief Executive Officer, American Commercial Barge Line, who remains on the Foundation as Immediate Past-Chairman. Michael Toohey, President and CEO, Waterways Council, Inc., was named Foundation President.
