Boskalis Floating Dock to Fix Carnival Vista

Jensen Maritime Provides Design for Shaver's New Tugboat
Jensen Maritime, Crowley Maritime Corp.’s Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering company, has provided the detailed design for Shaver Transportation Company’s new, Z-drive tug – Samantha S. The multi-purpose tug was built at Diversified Marine Inc., in Portland, Ore., and is operating along the West Coast. The tug is ABS-classed and carries a FFV1 firefighting notation.The 112-foot by 44-foot tug has a 22-foot draft, was built for escort, ocean towing and ship assist, and has firefighting capabilities if needed. The tug features a raised pilot house and a squared forward end.
Guangzhou Shipyard Bags Order for Seven Tankers from Cosco Shipping
Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation (CSET) has placed an order for seven more ships at compatriot Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited (GSI), owned by CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering Company Limited. The order will include two 64,900 dwt crude oil tankers, two 109,900 dwt LR2 vessels and three 114,000 dwt crude tankers, totaling in an investment worth approximately USD 323 million (RMB 2.14 billion.). Expected delivery dates for the two 64,900 dwt panamax crude tankers are on or before 29 February 2020 and 31 May 2020, respectively.
Port Autonome de Papeete Orders Tug for Tahiti
Damen Shipyards said it has won an open tender for the supply of a tug to Port Autonome de Papeete on the Pacific island of Tahiti. Tahiti is part of French Polynesia, an overseas territory of the French Republic. The tug will be Damen’s popular ASD 2810 model, a rugged, versatile vessel capable of delivering 60 tonnes of bollard pull. Foreship Establishes Tallinn Subsidiary
Naval architect and marine engineering company Foreship has created a wholly-owned subsidiary located in Tallinn to strengthen ties with shipowners, shipyards and marine equipment suppliers in Estonia, and support the development of locally-based design skills. Foreship OÜ will commence operations on October 1 from its own premises, located in the brand new Öpik building within sight of Tallinn Airport, Lake Ülemiste and Tallinn Old Town. The new company, which is 100 percent held by Helsinki-based Foreship Ltd, will be headed by Estonian national and structural engineer Sven Varushkin.

Iran Strikes $2.4bn Ship Order with Korea
Iran has placed orders worth around $2.4 billion with South Korean shipyards for the construction of ships to carry Iran’s oil and petrochemical products, The Wall Street Journal says. The orders have been placed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and the oil producer Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC). The Korean companies involved in the case are Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, which is a subsidiary of shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, as well as Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Company.

South Korean shipbuilding major Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) posted a KRW 5.13 trillion (USD 4.3 billion) worth loss for the full year of 2015. German-built Jack-up Vessel for Offshore Wind Farms
The hull is complete, the steelwork concluded, the building of the deckhouse has begun – in the dock of Sietas shipyard the first jack-up vessel for offshore wind farms developed and constructed in Germany is currently taking shape. Construction started in April 2012; the handover of the ship to the client, the Dutch marine engineering company Van Oord, is planned for July of this year. For further work on the final assembly, the jack-up vessel needs to be floating in the dock harbor of the Sietas shipyard.
Jensen Maritime Designs Harley Tugs & Barge
Crowley Maritime subsidiary, Jensen Maritime complete design of 2 ASD tugboats & a deck cargo barge for Harley Marine. Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering company Jensen Maritime recently completed the designs of two new ASD tugs, based on the popular Valor tugboat design, and a 250’ x 70’ x 15’ 8” deck barge for customer Harley Marine, a Seattle-based marine transportation provider. STX Europe AS sells STX Norway Florø AS and STX Norway Design Florø AS to Westcon Group AS. STX Europe completes the sale of all of the shares in its wholly owned subsidiaries STX Norway Florø AS and STX Norway Design Florø AS to Westcon Group AS. The order backlog of STX Norway Florø AS was NOK 59 million at the end of Q3 2012 and the order book consisted mainly of one offshore pipelay vessel, the "Deep Energy". STX Norway Design Florø AS is a subsidiary of STX Europe, situated at the Florø Yard.
German Shipyard Sietas Sale Deal in the Balance
Cash-strapped JJ Sietas Group is building a Van Oord liftboat but as a second order is uncomfirmed the yard's future is in doubt. In June 2012 the creditors’ committee voted in favour of an offer by the VeKa Group of the Netherlands to take over the Sietas shipyard. Despite six months of intensive negotiations, it has not proved possible to complete the deal. The reason being that the Sietas shipyard currently has only one order for a new construction, a jack-up vessel for offshore wind farms for the Dutch marine engineering company Van Oord.

Caley Ocean Systems Get Offshore Cable Turntable Order
UK's Caley is to modify the vessel and install the turntable for dredging & marine engineering company Jan de Nul NV. The contract is for the supply of a 5,400Te capacity cable turntable for the MPV Willem De Vlamingh. Mid 2013, Jan de Nul is installing 245kV export cable connecting the Northwind Offshore Wind power plant, on the Lodewijkbank off the coast of Oostende, to the Belgian power grid. In the first quarter of 2013, the MPV Willem De Vlamingh is to be outfitted for cable laying offshore.

Patent Protection Granted for Hybrid Propulsion System
Aspin Kemp & Associates (AKA) and Foss Maritime Company with their technology partner XeroPoint Energy, have received U.S. patent protection for its hybrid propulsion and energy management system. AKA, a Canadian system integrator and marine engineering company partnered with Foss, which owns and operates one of the largest tug and barge fleets on the U.S. West Coast, in developing this technology. The hybrid propulsion and energy management system has been proven to significantly reduce emissions, fuel consumption and equipment maintenance for marine vessels.
Deltamarin, New Ferry Design Contracts
Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd and Société des Traversiers du Québec have both ordered new passenger ferry designs from Deltamarin. Both companies named sustainable design and excellent energy efficiency as important criteria in the designs. The order of the Scottish Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) comprises the concept design of two small RoPax ferries (311.6 ft & 114.8 ft). The designs will be used as tendering specifications to shipyards. CMAL are intending to commence a fleet replacement program in the near future, and these ferries will be a part of it.
