MacGregor Wins Orders from Europe

Global Energy Takes Over Nigg Oil Terminal

MacGregor Secures $22 mln in Contracts

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured orders to provide MacGregor products to a Naval project in Europe and TTS products to a RoRo project in Asia. The total order value is more than $22 million and the contracts include ramps, car deck and lifting platform equipment. The orders were booked into Cargotec's third quarter 2019 order intake, with deliveries planned to commence during the third quarter of 2020 and completed during the first quarter of 2027.

MacGregor Develops Cargo System for MSC Boxship

Cargotec company MacGregor has developed a new cargo system for one of the world’s largest container ships, the MSC Gülsün.The ship was built by South Korean company Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and delivered in July of this year, having a capacity of more than 23,000 TEU, a length of 400 meters and width of 61.5 meters, and is the first of 11 ultra-large containerships MSC has on order, six of which are being supplied by SHI. MacGregor Cargo System for World's Largest Boxship

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has designed the cargo system for the world’s largest containership, MSC Gülsün, which was delivered in July 2019 by South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries. She is 400 m long, 61.5 m wide and is the first in a series of 11 ultra-large containerships with a capacity of more than 23,000 TEU. Six of the vessels are being built by Samsung Heavy Industries, and the other five by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.The system was developed in close collaboration with MSC from an early stage of the project.

Bay Shipbuilding Cuts Steel on Great Lakes Freighter

The U.S. Great Lakes freighter fleet are well-renowned for being a 'mature' group of ships, a point magnified yesterday when Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding started construction on the first U.S.-flagged Great Lakes bulk carrier built in more than 35 years. The shipyard and the owner, The Interlake Steamship Company, hosted a ceremonial first-cut-of-steel event Wednesday, August 14, signalling the start of construction.The new River-Class, self-unloading bulk carrier is believed to be the first ship for U.S. Great Lakes service built on the Great Lakes since 1983.

MacGregor Wins Contract for COSCO Fleet

MacGregor Acquires TTS Group Units

Cargotec’s MacGregor business area has completed the acquisition of the marine and offshore businesses of TTS Group ASA. Cargotec announced in February 2018 an agreement to acquire the businesses for an enterprise value of approximately $96 million.Completion of the acquisition follows receipt of required approvals from the relevant countries and authorities. MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received orders to provide linkspans, cruise access equipment and RoRo solutions for pure car truck carriers (PCTC) from Europe and Japan. The total order value is approximately $21 million. Cargotec Reorganizes Kalmar

Finnish cargo-handling machinery manufacturer Cargotec said it has reorganized the businesses under its Kalmar brand and has appointed Stefan Lampa as President of Kalmar Mobile Solutions, in a move aimed at enhancing Kalmar's growth opportunities.Kalmar, a provider of cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, distribution centers and heavy industry, will be reorganized into three strategic business units: Kalmar Mobile Solutions, Kalmar Automation Solutions and Navis, effective April 1, 2019.

LNG Bulk Carrier Viikki Starts Baltic Sea Ops

MacGregor Cleared to Acquire TTS' Marine & Offshore Units

MacGregor, a part of Cargotec, has yesterday received a clearance decision from the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) for the company's acquisition of the marine and offshore businesses of TTS Group ASA, which was announced on 8 February, 2018.  The completion of the intended transaction is still subject to regulatory approvals in China and South Korea. MacGregor expects to receive these approvals by the end of 2018 and to complete the transaction, according to the agreement, as soon as possible thereafter.

Students Aim to Improve Stevedore Working Conditions

A Finland-Singapore Maritime Innovation camp was held September 23 to 28 in Singapore, where corporate partners MacGregor and PSA Corporation asked student to find a way to reduce the stress level of stevedores while working on board.The students from Turku School of Economics at the University of Turku, National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore worked on the challenge during an intensive one-week camp, with the team presentations and results announced during the closing gala.

Hapag-Lloyd Ships Gain MacGregor Cargo Boosts

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, is upgrading and optimising the container stowage systems on board seven Hapag-Lloyd C-class (Samsung 9,300 TEU series) container vessels. A contract for four vessels was signed in December 2017 and was shortly followed by a further three in January 2018. The work is being carried out under a MacGregor Cargo Boost service, which is designed to increase the earning potential of existing container vessels through improving cargo carrying efficiency.

MacGregor to Split Smart Ocean Technology Division

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it will reorganize its offshore and merchant shipping operations as part of a plan aiming to achieve €13 million in annual cost savings. Under the plan, MacGregor’s Smart Ocean Technology division will be divided into two new divisions: Cargo Handling and Advanced Offshore Solutions. The statutory cooperation negotiations have now been finalized, resulting in restructuring of operations and reducing approximately 170 full-time equivalents globally. The measures affect MacGregor operations in Norway, Germany, China and Singapore.
