Scott Joins Laborde
Laborde Products recently expanded its procurement department, with long-time veteran Dan Murphy leading the way. With Murphy’s promotion, there was a need to satisfy the position for a new parts manager. Joe Scott, a Kansas City native, residing in Dayton, Ohio joins the Laborde team to fulfill this role. Scott has a valuable history in the automotive industry with over ten years of experience in dealing with parts.
Smith Maritime Hauls Equipment to Puerto Rico
Smith Maritime recently hauled a barge load of equipment on behalf of CAT5 Resources to help rebuild cellular communication infrastructure in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Smith Maritime’s barge Marilyn Monroe was loaded at its terminal in Amelia, La. with vehicles, housing, bulk fuel, food and most importantly, self-powered cellular communication towers to reestablish communication on the island. Marilyn Monroe was towed by the tug Elsbeth 2, powered by fully mechanical Mitsubishi engines supplied by distributor Laborde Products and rated 1,675 HP at 1,600 RPM each.
Laborde wins Bukh Distribution Deal
Laborde Products has been selected as BUKH Diesel Marine Distributor for the United States marine market. "Our companies have tremendous synergies," stated Soren Pederson, BUKH sales manager. "The BUKH engine line really complements our growing position in the marine market, and provides much needed domestic support for the US cruise ship industry with the large population of BUKH SOLAS engines used in lifeboats and fast rescue craft”, said Chris Cerullo, Laborde Products marine manager.
Dugas Named Laborde's General Service Manager
Laborde Products has hired Bobby Dugas as its general service manager, company president Brian Laborde announced during a recent company-wide meeting. Dugas has more than 25 years of experience in the engine service business. Most recently, he held the position of general manager of aftermarket services at Reagan Power & Compression. In his new role, Dugas will be responsible for service support operations at all three Laborde locations, as well as the company's extensive network of over 90 service dealers. He will work out of Laborde's Covington, Louisiana corporate headquarters.
Laborde Hosts Mitsubishi Training Seminar
Laborde Products hosted a three-day Mitsubishi engine training sminar in Covington, Louisiana for its North American dealers. The company welcomed representatives from all over the continent: Boatswains Locker, Mack Boring & Parts Company, Inc., Sansom Equipment Limited, Frontier Power and Hatton Marine all had participants in attendance, and Ted Hahn, vice president of Mitsubishi Engine North America also came to the seminar. Literature packets, including engine specification sheets and technical drawings were given to all training participants.
Laborde Builds up Industrial Sales Team
Helping round out its industrial salesforce, Laborde Products welcomes two new salesmen. Cody Dean will handle industrial engine and equipment sales in southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi, while Chris Wright will respond to the needs of northern Louisiana and northern Mississippi. Dean previously served as territorial manager at Woolf-Harris. He will provide customers with the information needed to select the best diesel engine for on/offshore operations, standby and backup generators and all diesel industrial engines for land or permanent applications.
Laborde Welcomes Marine Salesman
Expanding its sales force, Laborde Products brings on a new salesman. David DiSalvo will handle diesel equipment sales and marketing. He will serve the Gulf Coast and inland rivers territories. "In this position, I hope to establish a presence in new areas, generate new business and grow existing accounts," said DiSalvo. "This is a great opportunity to provide customers with the right product, the right service, and the right support. DiSalvo brings 20 years of marine industry experience. He previously spent 15 years as a senior sales consultant with Green Marine selling major equipment.

Laborde Products teams up with Diesel Power Equipment, LLC, a sister company to Diesel Propulsion Company, a longtime Laborde marine dealer. Diesel Power Equipment, LLC will support Diesel America, Mitsubishi and Yanmar products in industrial applications in the Southwest. Diesel Power Equipment is locally owned and has over 30 years experience in the industrial diesel engine field.
