Container Scanning Introduced at Krishnapatnam Port
India’s Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited (KPCL), in an industry first initiative, announced the installation of ‘Rapiscan Eagle P 60 (“Eagle P60’)’ a drive through X Ray Container Scanner & Radiation Portal Monitors. Besides increasing security and safety of the port, the container scanner will enhance the terminal’s overall performance while reducing the service time.Offering seamless movement of containers, the drive-through container scanner at Krishnapatnam Port will enable it to increase the volume of handling import containers by at least 5,000 TEUs per month, the port said.
Krishnapatnam Port Container Throughput Rises
Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited (KPCL), the largest deepwater port on the east coast of India, announced that it has handled 45 Million Metric Ton (MMT) of cargo in 2017-18 (FY18) thus, achieving a 25 percent growth over 36.10 MMT handled in the previous fiscal. The company witnessed a record 88 percent rise in the number of containers it handled at 4,81,408 TEUs vis-à-vis 2,55,439 TEUs during the last fiscal. Total bulk cargo handled by the port stood at 37 MMT. Coal, Iron ore and Granite dominated the cargo portfolio handled at Krishnapatnam Port.
HMM’s Direct Weekly ACS Service Flagged Off From Krishnapatnam Port

Gateway Distriparks CFS at Krishnapatnam Port starts Ops
Gateway Distriparks Ltd. (GDL) today informed that the construction of the first phase its Logistics Park & Container Freight Station (CFS) next to the Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal has been completed and after receiving all necessary statutory approvals from the Customs Department, the facility is ready to commence operations. GDL has invested Rs. 90 crore in the first phase to develop capacity as follows - 60,000 TEUs in bonded container yard and 50,000 sq. ft. of bonded warehousing, as well as 100,000 TEUs in domestic container yard and 100,000 sq. ft. of domestic warehousing.

Krishnapatnam Unveils India’s First Ocean linked Golf Course
Krishnapatnam, the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India in an effort to rephrase ‘customer delight’ and ensure a longstanding bond with each of its clientele has set up a first of its kind, world class 18-hole integrated golf course within the port premise. Inaugurated by M. Venkaiah Naidu Hon’ble Union Minister for Urban Development and Information & Broadcasting, the golf course is linked to the ocean, making it the first of its kind, in the country. Krishnapatnam Port Inaugurates Maersk Salalah Service
Krishnapatnam Port inaugurated yesterday the maiden call of “M V Maersk Bentonville” as part of the direct weekly service from Krishpatnam to Salalah (Oman). The first voyage of Maersk Bentonville discharged 551 TEU’s and loaded 770 TEU’s of exports. The weekly service is expected to provide fastest and most competitive service to the exporters and importers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Northern Tamil Nadu to the ports of US East Coast, Mediterranean, Europe and Africa. Maersk to Link Salalah to Krishnapatnam Port
Maersk Line India a unit of Danish conglomerate A P Moller Maersk Group, has launched a new service from Salalah, Oman to the Krishnapatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh. The weekly service to be started from April 17 will connect customers in the areas of AP, Northern Tamil Nadu and Eastern Karnataka directly to Oman and nearby region. Krishnapatnam Port is a privately built and owned all weather, deep water port on the east coast of India, located in the Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh.
Maersk Krishnapatnam Service from April 17th

Petrogas to Establish LNG terminal in Andhra
Petrogas Private Limited, a joint venture company between Isomeric Holdings Bhd from Malaysia and LEPL Ventures Pvt Ltd (LEPL) from Vijayawada, has signed a facilitation MoU with Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd (KPCL) and Andhra Pradesh government for setting up a regasification and floating storage Terminal at Krishnapatnam Port. Petrogas will commit a direct funding of over $500 million at Krishnapatnam, SPS Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh within the fields of LNG Regassification Terminal and allied industries.
LNG Bharat to Roll Out FLNG Terminal
LNG Bharat Private Ltd is setting up a floating LNG Floating Storage Unit (FSU) with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum at Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district the Hindu Businessline reports quoting J. Murthy, the Managing Director. The company had taken 120 acres of land from the port and leased a berth for setting up the terminal and a pipeline would also be laid from Krishnapatnam to Ennore in Tamil Nadu, via Sullurupeta and Sri City. The total project cost, including the terminal and the pipeline, would be Rs. 1400 crores, he said.

Kamarajar Port Posts 10.7% Growth, Plans Free Trade Warehousing Zone
Throughput at Ennore-based Kamarajar Port Ltd increased 10.6 per cent in 2014-15 to 30.25 million tonne as against 27.34 mt registered during the previous year. The port has posted a 5 percent growth in pre-tax profit to Rs 421.47 ($70 million). Operating income was up 12.3 per cent to Rs 563.64 crore for the period as compared with Rs 501.93 crore. The major share of the throughput was imports of coal by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). The port located at Ennore to the north of Chennai now primarily handles coal import and car export.

New BTL Import Connection from Colombo to KPCT
Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT) has sailed in to a new frontier with the addition of Bengal Tiger Line’s (BTL) new Colombo feeder service (BOX-2) from KPCT. This new fixed day weekly service has a port rotation of Colombo - KPCT - Chennai and had its maiden call on February 7, 2014 with vessel M.V. Tiger Bridge. In recognition of the important and valuable role being played by KPCT’s employees in the success of the terminal, the port’s Senior Quay Crane Operator launched the new service. All NVOCCs, Liners can load on this service as it is a common carrier feeder vessel.
Indian Port Claims Single Day Coal Discharge World Record
Krishnapatnam Port claims world record for discharging 122,247 MT's of coal from ship in 24 hrs using conventional cranes. The cargo was discharged from the MV Cohiba which had 161,980 MT of US Coal on account of JSW Steels Limited. The remaining 39,733 MT of coal was due to be dishcarged the following day by the saime mobile harbor cranes. Krishnapatnam Port Sets New Record
Krishnapatnam Port achieved a new benchmark by loading 60,021 MT of Iron Ore fines in just 24 hrs surpassing its previous record of 54,500 MT. The cargo was loaded in vessel MV Tian Li Hai by using the conventional system of loading for ports in India. The vessel called to the port on April 12 and the loading commenced at 16:20 hrs which ended on April 13 at 16:20 hrs. The entire cargo of 88,000 MT was loaded into the vessel within 36 hrs, thereby setting its highest-ever loading record.
New Krishnapatnam Port Records
Krishnapatnam Port achieved a record discharge rate of 42,527 MT of coal in 24 hrs for vessel MV Marina berthed on Jan. 24, 2010. A few days prior to that, the port achieved its highest fertilizer discharge rate of 21,200 MT in 24 hrs for vessel MV Ghent Trader on Dec. 26, 2009. Another record was set when port has loaded 5,340 MT of granite within 24 hrs in the vessel MV Yong Sheng on Jan. 15, 2010. All these records were achieved by using the non-mechanized cargo handling system. Krishnapatnam port has added three more shore cranes, thus owning a total of seven shore cranes.
