UAE Marine Environment Protection Association launched in Dubai

The Director General of HELMEPA, Dimitris C. Mitsatsos and the Chairman of Dubai Council for Marine & Maritime Industries (DCMMI), Mr. Khamis Juma Buamim, signed the Inaugural Declaration to the formation of UAEMEPA, the United Arab Emirates Marine Environment Protection Association. The signing ceremony took place at the beginning of the 9th Offshore Arabia Conference at Dubai in the presence of the Secretary General of IMO, Mr. Kitack Lim, UAE high standing functionaries and representatives of organizations and companies from within world shipping.

Gulf Navigation to Acquire Atlantic Navigation

Dubai-based Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (GulfNav) is in discussions to acquire a majority stake in Singapore-based Atlantic Navigation Holdings, a provider of offshore marine logistic services. Atlantic is an integrated offshore supply operation engaged in the provisioning of marine logistic services, ship repair, fabrication and other marine services. It operates out of the UAE serving primarily customers in the Middle East and India. Atlantic is an offshore marine logistic services group listed on the Singapore Stock with total assets of $177m.

Gulf Navigation Sails to Profit

Dubai-based shipping company Gulf Navigation Holding  has reported a 39% growth in net profit at the end of the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period in 2016. The result came at a stage while the company is witnessing a significant improvement in its performance, successful settlement of legal cases and entering into various global partnerships to strengthen its competitive position in the marine sector. Gulf Navigation forms JV with Polimar Turkish

Dubai-listed Gulf Navigation Holding has announced a partnership with Polimar Turkish Holding to grow its fleet and increase its global reach. Under the agreement, Gulf Navigation said it would be able to serve customers in major trading ports worldwide. The Gulf Navigation fleet is expected to grow from four service boats to 10 crews, tugs and offshore support vessels with a value of US$3 million per vessel as part of the deal. The revenue from the partnership is expected to be about $27m a year, according to Gulf Navigation.

GulfNav, SeaQuest Tie Up in Ship Management

Gulf Navigation, Mena Energy Sign Strategic Deal

GulfNav has marked another milestone by entering into strategic alliances with MENA ENERGY. The strategic alliances  for mutual co-operation in ship acquisition, chartering and commercial management aims to set out a platform for the parties to have an enhanced commercial relationship and to further strengthen their existing business ties. The parties have agreed that Gulf Navigation would acquire vessels that would be time-chartered to MENA Energy for carrying Crude and the petroleum products.

Dubai Partners with WOC on Ocean Sustainable Dwevelopment

The Dubai Council on Marine and Maritime Industries (DCMMI) and the World Ocean Council (WOC) have agreed to collaborate on ocean sustainable development and corporate ocean responsibility. The WOC is increasingly working with and through “maritime clusters” to advance these goals. “The World Ocean Council is a unique global business leadership organization committed to advancing ocean sustainable development, stewardship and science,” DCMMI Chairman, Khamis Juma Buamim, stated.

Drydocks World, service provider to shipping, maritime, offshore, oil, gas and energy sectors, will sign an agreement with Kleindienst Group to provide a complete range of offshore marine and operational management solutions for their The Heart of Europe. Drydocks World's to build BorWin3

Drydocks World signed an agreement today with Petrofac to build the BorWin3 high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter platform in the North Sea, named BorWin gamma. When completed, this will provide an essential renewable offshore resource to meet increasing energy demands. Drydocks World has successfully secured the contract for the fabrication, commissioning and load out of the BorWin3 platform, which will transmit electricity from the connected offshore wind farms to the mainland of Germany.

Gulf Craft to Invest $100m in Dubai Shipyard

Dubai Maritime City (DMC), a maritime cluster in Dubai, today announced an agreement with Gulf Craft to invest in a free hold plot located within the marine district of DMC, on an area of approximately 900,000 square feet. According to DMC, Gulf Craft plans to make a $100 million investment in developing this facility over the next five years. It will include a state-of-the-art shipyard to manufacture high-end luxury yachts as well as a service center incorporating cutting-edge, highly specialized technology for the yacht industry.

Drydocks World, the international service provider to the shipping, maritime, offshore, oil, gas, and energy sectors, has been chosen to carry out the drydocking and repairs of the jack-up “High Island IV” for Shelf Drilling, one of the major players in the shallow water drilling market, and owners of 40 rigs worldwide. Drydocks World-Dubai has a successful past with Shelf Drilling, previously completing a variety of work on six of their rigs, ranging from Saudi Aramco specifications to major upgrades and re-activation.

Drydocks World wins ADIPEC Awards

Drydocks World and Maritime World, the international providers of maritime and offshore services to the shipping, oil, gas, and energy sectors have been awarded the Best Oil & Gas Project Award for outstanding Project Excellence on the SOLAN Project. The gala event was held on the 30th anniversary of Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi on November 10 2014. According to ADIPEC officials, the judging panel received 396 participant entries from over 100 companies across 27 countries.

The first LNG fuelled harbour tug in Middle East region will be designed by Wärtsilä and feature a full scope of Wärtsilä solutions.

First LNG Fuelled Tug for Middle East by Wärtsilä

Drydocks World (DDW) based in Dubai, UAE, has contracted Wärtsilä to design and supply the propulsion and other equipment for a new harbour tug that will operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG). This will be the first harbour tug in the Middle East region to operate on gas. The order was signed in November. The 29-meter-long tug is the first of a series of nine such vessels to be built and operated by DDW. The project is part of a green initiative launched by the Dubai government, and is intended to set an example for promoting environmental sustainability throughout the region.
