Eighty-two Crowley Vessels Earn Safety Awards
Eighty-two Crowley Maritime Corporation vessels recently received the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA)’s annual Jones F. Devlin Awards in recognition of their outstanding safety records in 2017. Each year the CSA grants Devlin Award certificates to manned merchant vessels that have operated for two or more years without incurring a lost time injury (LTI), specifically highlighting the skills and dedication of the crewmembers responsible for safe vessel operations.Crowley’s 2017 Devlin Award-worthy vessels together have achieved an impressive total of 613 years of service without an LTI.
Murky Waters Persist as Ballast Water Weighs on Shipowners

CSA Awards Vessel Safety
The U.S. maritime industry publicly recognized the merchant mariners responsible for safe ship operations at the Annual Safety Awards Luncheon held on June 7, 2017. In all, 211 people, representing 53 companies and their subsidiaries attended the annual industry-sponsored event where 1,582 vessels with 10,604 cumulative years of accident free operation were recognized. Since 1958, the Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) has also sponsored the Safety Achievement Award program which recognizes outstanding feats of safety that contribute to saving a life, a ship or other property.
WISTA Hosts CMA Luncheon
The WISTA USA CMA luncheon which was held on Monday, March 21, and was well attended by industry professionals from around the globe. Final Lineup announced for ICS Conference
The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) has announced its final program for this year’s ICS International Shipping Conference which features speakers from across the global industry. The conference is one of the principal events during the second London International Shipping Week (LISW15). Upcoming NAMEPA National Maritime Day Seminar
'Safety at Sea' focus of NAMEPA's National Maritime Day seminar at the Washington DC National Press Club. The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) will be offering a seminar “Environmental Intelligence in Maritime: Safety at Sea", featuring shipboard safety, piracy, and an update on issues for seafarers. The seminar will take place on May 21st at the National Press Club in Washington DC commencing at 2:00pm. The seminar is intended to commemorate National Maritime Day, which is held on May 22nd to honor merchant mariners.
