Kalmar to Supply SmartPower RTGs to Port of Buatan

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded a deal with Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper (RAPP) to supply three Kalmar SmartPower rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) for its container yard at the Port of Buatan in Indonesia. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 first quarter order intake and delivery is scheduled to take place towards the end of Q4 2018. RAPP, a subsidiary of APRIL Group - one of the world's leading producers of pulp and fine papers - operates a pulp and paper mill in Riau Province on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

ExxonMobil said its new Mobil SHC Aware HS (Hydraulic System) Series hydraulic oils are specially formulated to offer excellent protection, even in marine operating environments. PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 32 Obtains RDE 90235

PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 32 is the first and so far only eco-friendly hydraulic oil to feature in the Bosch Rexroth RDE 90245 Fluid Rating List. “Yet again, we have proven that our biodegradable products such as PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 32 also meet the highest industry requirements,” said Patrick Lämmle, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PANOLIN International. “PANOLIN HLP SYNTH is the first rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oil to obtain the Fluid Rating (ISO 15380 in combination with RFT-APU-CL test),” Lämmle said.

Siemens’ Turbine Transport Ship Commissioned

The heavy cargo roll on/roll off' coaster vessel recently delivered and commissioned by Concordia Group is not the typical RO/RO. Once a containership, the 141-meter-long and 20-meter-wide Rotra Vente was converted into a specifically designed ship to be used under charter by Siemens mainly in the North Sea area for the transportation of mast, nacelles (engine rooms) and rotor blades for wind turbines. The vessel’s specially developed bow and the extendable ramp are controlled by hydraulic systems for cargo to be more efficiently driven cargo to and from the cargo deck.

Bosch Rexroth is accepting registration for all courses in its training program designed for industrial hydraulics and mobile hydraulics systems engineers. Rexroth’s Hydraulics Technical Training is targeted toward individuals who maintain hydraulic systems, design new systems or want to upgrade existing systems with new technology. Rexroth provides on-site training for specific hydraulic installations, and customized training programs are available with test stands delivered to the participant’s location.

Bosch Rexroth Celebrates Silver

In November 2014, Bosch Rexroth celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Fountain Inn, SC hydraulics production facility. After undergoing an expansion in 2013, the location is home to the company’s largest hydraulics manufacturing facility in the Americas. Opened in 1989, the facility was originally made up of a single 250,000 sq. ft. building and specialized in manufacturing hydraulic pumps. Now, the Fountain Inn facility is more than double its original size in order to better serve its customers in the region and beyond.

Recently, several catastrophic failures of masts, booms, and lift cables have occurred on purse seine fishing vessels that have resulted in loss of life and severe injuries. Over the years many casualties have occurred onboard all types of fishing vessels attempting to haul in catches that exceeded the capacity of their winches, hoists, and associated equipment. These types of casualties are not unusual.

Derecktor Florida Delivers Gulf Sentry Refit

The Gulf Sentry is one of FWC’s Endurance Class Off-shore Patrol vessels and the largest in the fleet at 85 ft. The vessel was originally named JJ Brown and was manufactured in 1968 for the United States Air Force (USAF) and used as a missile retriever until 1994. The vessel was then used by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and was eventually loaned to FWC, who operated the vessel for the next 14 years for federal fisheries enforcement, search and rescue. It was discovered that the vessel needed extensive repairs to remain operation.
