Roughead Joins Fincantieri Marinette Marine Board

Former Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead was elected as the chairman of the board of directors of Fincantieri Marinette Marine Corporation July 10.Roughead was the 29th Chief of Naval Operations from 2007 - 2011, after holding six operational commands. He is one of only two officers in the history of the Navy to have commanded both the U.S. Atlantic and Pacific Fleets.Roughead served in several key positions aside from his sea duties, most notably as the commandant of the U.S.

Laborde Marine Announces Management Changes

New Orleans-based offshore oil industry service provider Laborde Marine Management  announced that Ashton P. Laborde has been appointed as President of the Company effective January 1, 2019. Laborde joined the Company in 2007 and most recently served as Director of Marketing. Throughout his career at Laborde Marine, Ashton has held various positions of increasing importance in operations. The marine company which owns or operates a fleet of 25 vessels also annouced that  John Peter Laborde, III, has joined the Company as Director of Finance.

Hoover Ferguson acquires Uniteam business

Hoover Ferguson Group (Hoover Ferguson), the global leader in container, workspace and packaging solutions for the energy and petrochemical industries and general industrial enterprises, has acquired the rights and obligations of Uniteam Holding AS’s (Uniteam’s) offshore container rental business. The transaction, which includes a specified fleet of standard and customized offshore containers in Norway and Malaysia, increases Hoover Ferguson’s established portfolio within the Norwegian oil and gas market and strengthens the Group’s footprint in Asia.

Hoover Container Solutions Announces Two Appointments

Hoover Container Solutions Norway AS, a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., and Consult Supply, a Hoover company, have appointed Tor Olav Schibevaag as managing director for Europe and Kjetil Skaaren as general manager for Norway. Jan Sekse, vice president global procurement, will continue to support the efforts of the Hoover Norway management team. Schibevaag will report to Hoover’s president, Paul Lewis, and joins Hoover with more than 12 years experience from Euro Offshore, where he developed and led the company as one of the leading cargo carrying unit (CCU) rental businesses in Norway.

US Hearing to Focus on New Ocean Technologies

The Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, chaired by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), will hold a hearing next week to examine the proliferation of new ocean technologies, how such technologies could improve government performance, and any impediments that exist in the use of such technologies. The federal government is responsible for recording, understanding, monitoring and protecting the oceans in the Exclusive Economic Zones which surround United States and territories out to 200 miles, and even in areas of the ocean beyond those littoral zones.

Hoover Container Solutions, a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., announced that Rod Branch has joined Hoover as Vice President of Human Resources. He will report directly to Paul Lewis, President of Hoover. Branch’s responsibilities include talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational design, performance management, compensation planning and change management initiatives. Branch joins Hoover with 20 plus years of experience and a diverse background in both large and small organizations.

Hoover Container Solutions Names Matis Sales Director

Hoover Container Solutions,a subsidiary of Hoover Group, Inc., has named Matt Matis as director of sales for the Gulf of Mexico region. Matis is based in Thibodeaux, La., and will work closely with Hoover’s facilities in Port Fourchon, New Iberia and Scott, La. Matis will lead Hoover’s Louisiana sales efforts with a focus on the offshore industry while managing several major customer accounts. Additionally, he will work closely with the Hoover and Dolphin Energy Equipment teams to develop an integrated product and service offering to better support customers.
