Stena Bulk Offering Biofuel as an Option
Shipping company Stena Bulk said Monday it is offering low-carbon biofuel as an option for its customers following trials of the cleaner but costlier fuel on board one of its tankers in April.Customers will have options ranging from 20% to 100% biofuels based on an offsetting program where the biofuel is used within the Stena Bulk fleet, Stena Bulk said. This allows customers to make use of low-carbon shipping options regardless of fuel availability on the specific route and without operational disruptions…
M/V Trudy Takes on Biofuel Bunkers in Rotterdam
Bavarian ship management company MINSHIP and its subsidiary MINMARINE said that a bulk carrier in their fleet of managed vessels, M/V Trudy, has successfully bunkered biofuel at the Port of Rotterdam. The biofuel bunkered by the 2009-built, 30,790-dwt bulk carrier on April 17 was GoodFuels’ sustainable Bio-fuel Oil MR1-100: which is a second generation sustainable biofuel produced from certified feedstock that is labelled as waste or residue.Since biofuel will be the only fuel burnt in the main engine of M/V Trudy for the next 8-10 days…
Jan De Nul Opts for 100% Renewable Fuels
Luxembourg-based maritime construction engineering company Jan De Nul announced its decision to opt for 100% renewable fuels."Jan De Nul Group carries out dredging work in the Benelux with 100% renewable fuel. With this, the world player is further committing itself to immediately and considerably reducing its CO₂ emissions," said a release.Trailing suction hopper dredger Alexander von Humboldt will from now on sail on renewable biofuel from certified and sustainable waste streams. The choice of 100% renewable fuel is part of the ambitious CO₂ reduction objectives of the Jan De Nul Group.
Boskalis Operates Dredger in 100% Biofuel
Dredging services provider Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. and biofuels supplier GoodFuels are set to take the next key step in the ‘Boskalis on Bio’ program for the testing of sustainable bio-fuel oil.Following earlier successful tests with ‘drop-in’ blends of light biofuel and marine gas oil, Boskalis’ Willem van Oranje will be the first dredging vessel in the world to operate on 100% bio-fuel oil.The sulfur-free sustainable residual fuel consists wholly of used cooking oil and contains no fossil fuels.
CMA CGM Boxship Refuels with Bio-Fuel
Previously announced IKEA, CMA CGM, GoodShipping Program and Port of Rotterdam pilot celebrates milestone moment in industry-first partnership.IKEA Transport & Logistics Services, CMA CGM, the GoodShipping Program and the Port of Rotterdam announced the successful refueling on Saturday, March 23 of the CMA CGM White Shark with sustainable marine bio-fuel oil.The test, which represents a major step for the decarbonization of ocean freight, saw the companies work together in a first-of-its-kind partnership for the shipping industry.
VARO, GoodFuels: Bio Fuels in Rotterdam
VARO Energy subsidiary REINPLUS FIWADO Bunker and GoodFuels have extended their partnership to improve availability of bio fuel oil (BFO) to deep sea vessels leaving from Rotterdam. The new deep sea proposition, which will help to improve the sustainability of the segment, is based on extending the availability of GoodFuels’ Bio Fuel Oil, which the company launched in Autumn 2018.The new partnership will see VARO help scale the sourcing, production, blending and distribution of GoodFuels Bio Fuel Oil across the ARA region.
Partnership to Test Sustainable Marine Bio-Fuel Oil
IKEA Transport & Logistics Services, CMA CGM, the GoodShipping Program and the Port of Rotterdam have announced they will cooperate in a first of its kind partnership to test and scale the use of sustainable marine bio-fuel oil. The test will commence with a landmark bunkering of the marine bio-fuel oil on a CMA CGM container vessel on March 19th, representing a major step towards the decarbonization of ocean freight. The test is being facilitated by the GoodShipping Program, a sustainable initiative dedicated to decarbonizing ocean freight…
Marine Biofuels As Sustainable Alternative For Shipping
The inaugural biofuel roundtable was held in Singapore today to drive discussions on the use of biofuels as a sustainable alternative fuel for the future of shipping. Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), BHP and GoodFuels Marine (GoodFuels), the closed-door roundtable event brought together shipowners of different ship types to network, share insights into the use of biofuels to meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations as well as explore areas of collaboration.
A2B-online Container Ships Use Biofuels, Big Data to Cut CO2
A2B-online Container, GoodFuels Marine and We4Sea launch a collaboration project with the aim to reduce fossil fuel consumption and CO2-emissions for two A2B-online ships. Big Data technology is used to map the possibilities for more efficient shipping operations. The cost efficiencies achieved by reduced levels of fuel consumption will subsequently be used to deploy advanced, sustainable biofuels, by which the CO2-emissions will further decrease. A2B-online Container B.V. offers reliable short-sea services from the port of Moerdijk to several ports in the UK.
GoodFuels Launches Sustainable Drop-in Marine Fuels Pilot
Heineken Netherlands, Nedcargo and sustainable fuel market-leader GoodFuels have launched a pilot to demonstrate a sustainable drop-in marine fuel on-board of the ‘For Ever’ – an inland barge dedicated to transport Heineken export beer, from the Heineken brewery in Zoeterwoude to the deep-sea terminals in Rotterdam. The advanced marine fuel supplied by GoodFuels contains 30% biofuel and thereby reduces CO2-emissions by more than 25%, whilst also sharply reducing local emissions as nitrogen and particulate matter.
Boskalis’ Fleet May Switch to Marine Biofuels
Boskalis today announced their collaboration with GoodFuels and Wärtsilä in a two-year pilot program to accelerate the development of truly sustainable, scalable and affordable marine bio-fuels. Bio-fuels today are not part of the marine fuel mix that operators and owners can choose from. This means that shipping is missing an opportunity to utilize what should be a price competitive, environmentally friendly fuel option. The consortium believes that these bio-fuels will play a viable role in reducing emissions that no other fuel can currently achieve…
