Unmanned FLNG: ‘The Future of LNG Technology’
DNV GL has developed a new unmanned floating LNG concept that it says overcomes many of the challenges currently faced by those looking to unlock the potential of remote offshore gas fields. Called Solitude, the concept demonstrates how technological advances – most of the technology already within reach - can be combined into a solution that offers some 20 percent reduction in annual OPEX, only adding a few percent increase in CAPEX and at the same time increase the overall safety.
New Offshore LNG Report Launches at Gastech 2012
Infield Systems unveil its 'Offshore LNG Market Report to 2018' at the Gastech Expo in London. The launch of this report at Gastech 2012 coincides with a particularly exciting time for this sector of the offshore oil and gas industry, following Shell's announcement that it has sanctioned the world's first floating LNG project, Prelude. It is widely expected that this will mark the beginning of a more widespread use of this potentially market changing technology. Infield Systems'…
Shell Floating LNG Technology, Greater Sunrise Project
Shell’s Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) technology has been selected as the Sunrise Joint Venture’s preferred option for developing the Greater Sunrise gas fields in the Timor Sea. Subject to final detailed agreements, government approvals and a final investment decision Shell will operate the FLNG facility and manage the design and build phases of the FLNG project for the Sunrise Joint Venture participants. The Sunrise project would be the second deployment of Shell’s proprietary FLNG design, following Shell’s Prelude FLNG development in the Browse basin, offshore Western Australia.
