Boskalis Operates Dredger in 100% Biofuel

Dredging services provider Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. and biofuels supplier GoodFuels are set to take the next key step in the ‘Boskalis on Bio’ program for the testing of sustainable bio-fuel oil.Following earlier successful tests with ‘drop-in’ blends of light biofuel and marine gas oil, Boskalis’ Willem van Oranje will be the first dredging vessel in the world to operate on 100% bio-fuel oil.The sulfur-free sustainable residual fuel consists wholly of used cooking oil and contains no fossil fuels.

Great Lakes Bags Corpus Christi VLCC Channel Deal

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation announced the receipt of a $93 million contract award for the Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project.Dredging to deepen the entrance channel will commence during the second quarter of 2019 with completion expected in early 2020 said Great Lakes, the largest provider of dredging services in the United States and a major provider of environmental and infrastructure services.It said that the overall ship channel deepening effort will be comprised of multiple phases, expected to be competitively bid and worked over the next five years.

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (Great Lakes), provider of both dredging services in the United States and environmental and infrastructure services, announced the receipt of a several dredging awards totaling $164 million. the Delaware River Deepening Variation Order (Capital, Delaware, $14.3 million). Maintenance Dredging Underway at Port of Cape Town

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA)’s Dredging Services division has embarked on a $ 1.1 million maintenance dredging campaign at the Port of Cape Town to restore the design depths inside Duncan dock. The maintenance campaign, which began on March 8, 2017, is scheduled for completion by the end April 2017. The main objective of the dredging campaign is to ensure the Port of Cape Town provides safe navigational channels and berthing facilities for shipping by restoring the original design depths.

India to sell 5% stake in Dredging Corp

India will sell 5 per cent of its stake in the country's largest dredging company, Dredging Corporation of India (DCI). The government will sell up to 1.4 million shares of face value of Rs 10 each, representing 5 percent of the total paid up equity share capital of the company, through Offer for Sale, DCI said in a filing to the BSE. This will bring up to Rs 57 crore ($ 9 million) to DCI kitty. "The offer shall take place during trading hours on a separate window of the Stock Exchanges and shall commence on August 21, 2015 at 9:15 am and shall close on the same date at 3:30 pm.

Big Wilmington Harbor Dredging Contract for GLDD

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (GLDD) gets Wilmington Harbor anchorage basin deepening contract from Army Corps of Engineers. The contract, worth US$16.4-million, is for the deepening of the anchorage basin portion of the existing navigation channel on the Cape Fear River in North Carolina. This project was awarded to  by the Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District and involves the excavation of sand, gravel and rock seabed material. Work is expected to begin before the end of the year.

BAE Mobile Yard Wins Dredge Contract

BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards Alabama has been selected by Weeks Marine, Inc. to build an 8,500 cubic yard capacity twin screw trailing suction hopper dredge at its Mobile, Alabama facility. Upon completion, dimensions of the vessel will be 356-feet long, 79-feet wide with a draft of 27 feet. Weeks Marine, Inc., which has its dredging headquarters in Covington, Louisiana, is one of the largest providers of dredging services in the United States. This will be a state-of-the art trailing suction hopper dredge and the first designed by IHC Merwede to be built in the United States.

New Navy Contract

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, LLC, Oak Brook, Ill., is being awarded a $9,584,080 firm-fixed price contract for dredging services at the Naval Submarine Base New London. The work to be performed provides for dredging services for pier side slips along the waterfront quay wall. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn., and is expected to be completed by Feb. 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with two proposals received.
