V. Group Acquires Global Marine Travel

V.Group  acquired Global Marine Travel (ISS GMT) from Inchcape Shipping Services.The addition of GMT to V.Group’s travel portfolio doubles ticketing volumes, strengthens the management team and will enable the creation of a combined operational hub in the Philippines. DNV GL, the risk management and quality assurance company, has bought a stake in leading public blockchain service provider VeChain as it looks to use the technology to develop new digital assurance solutions. The acquisition builds on the strong relationship between the two firms and follows the recent launch of My Story, a blockchain enabled digital assurance product which gives a new level of insight into supplier and product information. Rolls-Royce to Restructure Its Marine Business

Rolls-Royce has announced plans to transform its marine business as a result of continuing weakness in the maritime market. Rolls-Royce's marine business supplies a range of technology and services to customers operating merchant, offshore and naval vessels. Planned measures include a further simplification of the structure of the business, with a streamlining of the senior management team, and a series of cost reduction initiatives which will result in the loss of around 800 roles worldwide and an estimated £45-50 million of annualised savings from mid-2017.

ABB Opens Integrated Operations Center in Helsinki

Aiming to leverage the increased connectivity of the shipping industry, ABB has opened a second Integrated Operations Center in Helsinki, following the launch of similar facility in Billingstad, Norway in late 2015.
