Fortunately, you can achieve the former goal while satisfying your thirst for latter. Ports and container terminal operators everywhere are faced with many challenges. A shifting liner alliance landscape has reshuffled the intermodal deck, and some ports are scrambling to dredge and finish the infrastructure necessary to handle the increased TEU throughput.

Toyota Material Handling Promotes Lego, Redelman

Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A. (TMHU) said it has promoted Tom Lego and Scott Redelman to its national management teams. Tom Lego has been promoted to national manager of training and the customer center, where he will spearhead all TMHU training initiatives and oversee the Customer Center. Lego joined Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (TIEM) in 1991 with positions in production control, purchasing and kaizen project management before joining TMHU in 2011 as the customer center manager. In the past year, Lego has also led the technical training team.

UniCarriers Americas Expands Regional Sales Team

UniCarriers Americas Corporation (UCA) expands its regional sales team by hiring Aaron C. Boemmel, Michael Paul, Terre Robert Haff and Paul G. West. As a regional sales manager for the northeast, Aaron Boemmel is responsible for strengthening UCA’s dealer network and increasing UCA’s dealer market share. Prior to joining UCA, Boemmel worked as an account manager of equipment sales for Eastern Lift Truck Company. He currently lives in Bel Air, Md., and studied computer science and business at Frostburg State University in Maryland.

Torqeedo Grows North American Sales Team

Northern Lights Opens Branch Office in Louisiana

Marine power generation and climate control products manufacturer Northern Lights has opened its fifth branch office, in Kenner, La, to enhance service to Gulf and inland waterways boat builders and vessel operators. The new Northern Lights Gulf branch, which will employ a full-time sales, parts and service staff, will warehouse marine, industrial and commercial series products. The new branch will service customers in the Gulf of Mexico and navigable inland waterways in the Midwest and Eastern regions of the U.S., including the region’s key ports: New Orleans, Houston, Pensacola and Paducah.

For over 12 years Island Marine Services Pte Ltd (IMS) and subsequently Island Marine Engineering Pte Ltd (IME) have maintained agencies with Sleipner (Side-Power Thrusters), Vestdavit and Headhunter and provided customers in the region and in Europe with naval architecture services and commercial ship servicing. Cummins Marine Organization Launched

Cummins Inc. has created a dedicated Cummins Marine organization within the existing Engine Operating Segment. By consolidating its commercial and recreational teams, the Cummins Marine organization will be better positioned to serve the business and its recreational, government service and commercial marine customers, the company said. Cummins Marine will be led by Jim Schacht, formerly General Manager and Executive Director of Cummins Commercial Marine. Boston Whaler has been recognized again for its customer service, earning a Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for the eleventh year in a row. Caterpillar Tier 4 Offering Hits the Market

Caterpillar Marine today announced the open order board of the Cat 3516C United States EPA Tier 4 propulsion, auxiliary and diesel electric propulsion (DEP) power solutions. In addition to being EPA Tier 4 certified, the 3516C solutions are IMO II certified and IMO III compliant. The Cat 3516C Tier 4 certified engine is available in a ‘B’ rating of 2,240 bKW at 1,800 rpm and a ‘C’ rating of 2350 bKW at 1,800 rpm. An auxiliary engine is available in a rating of 2,250 ekW at 1,800 rpm. Finally, the diesel electric propulsion solution is available in a 2,250 eKW rating at 1,800 rpm.

Caterpillar Develops Second Dual Fuel Engine

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems announce the development of the MaK M 34 DF, a new marine dual fuel engine platform for the commercial marine industry. The M 34 DF dual fuel engine boasts a power rating of 500 kW per cylinder at 720 and 750 rpm in diesel and gas modes, and will share the same footprint as the highly successful M 32 C engine series. The M 34 DF will be capable of running on natural gas as an alternative to marine diesel oil or large and complex scrubber installations for Emission Control Areas (ECA) operation as of 2015. First engine deliveries are foreseen for October 2014.

New Caterpillar Rig Pressure Pump Engine

Caterpillar's new 16-cylinder, 78 liter engine will be revealed for the first time at the 2013 CIPPE Show in Beijing. Manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana, the new Cat 3516C (HD) engine builds on the established track record of the 3512C (HD) engine, which has logged millions of hours in oilfields around the globe, including in China. The engine will be available in three ratings: 2,461 bkW (3,300 bhp), 2,349 bkW (3150 bhp) and 2,237 bkW (3000 bhp) @ 1900 rpm. The engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 2 Emissions for North America as well as  Tier 1 Emissions for international markets.
