Denmark to Introduce Digital Ship Registration

DMA: Third Party Liability Insurance Mandatory for Small Vessels

After new regulation, all speedboats with a hull length below 15 m, personal watercrafts/jet skis and similar vessels must now be covered by a 3. part liability insurance. Danish Maritime Authority informed that if the vessel does not have insurance coverage, you are not allowed to operate it. The new requirements regarding mandatory third party liability insurance, strict liability in case of personal injury and loss of pendant as well as wider options for confiscation of vessels have come to into force yesterday (May 15).

Danish Fleet Surpasses 20 million GT

Bill Submitted to Amend Danish Pilotage Act

On December 20, 2013, the Danish Maritime Authority submitted a bill to amend the Danish Pilotage Act and various other acts for consultation. The main purpose of the bill is to make it possible to perform pilotage assignments in Danish waters in a more efficient manner and thus to contribute to protecting safety of navigation and the environment. The bill is intended to create increased competition in the pilotage area and will make it easier for existing and new pilotage service providers to operate in the market.
