COVID-19: South Africa Bans Cruise Ships

South Africa banned all passenger vessels from its ports on Wednesday due to the coronavirus outbreak, leaving tourists on a cruise ship docked in Cape Town in limbo following tests for possible COVID-19 cases on board.The MV AidAmira's more than 1,700 passengers and crew have been unable to leave the ship since Monday, after a crew member on a cargo ship who shared a plane with six passengers on the liner showed symptoms of the coronavirus.Port authorities quarantined the Italian-flagged AidAmira while the six passengers were tested for coronavirus.All those tests came back negative, South Af

Piraeus Port Taps TEKAL for Port Expansion

PPA S.A. has announced that the construction company TEKAL S.A. was awarded as the construction contractor of the Cruise Terminal Expansion project of Piraeus Port Authority, after the financial bid of $113 million plus VAT, initially budgeted $180 million. Panama Cargo Volumes on the Rise

Cargo volumes in Panamanian ports totaled 7,346,859 TEU in 2019, up 4.7% compared with the year before when cargo volumes showed a slight growth of 1.7% to 7.014, 410 TEU.“In 2018, Panamanian ports hit the 7 million TEU milestone for the first time and just last year cargo volumes increased by 4.7% to 7.34 million TEU of cargo volumes, making 2019 the best port performance,” said Noriel Arauz, Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) and Minister of Maritime Affairs.

YIT Eesti to Build Tallinn Cruise Terminal

Miami-based cruise company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. This will create the conditions for a shift from shipboard diesel power supply to ecological electric power during lay times. South Korea to Slash Passenger Vessel Emissions with ABB
