Northern Lights Opens Branch Office in Louisiana

Marine power generation and climate control products manufacturer Northern Lights has opened its fifth branch office, in Kenner, La, to enhance service to Gulf and inland waterways boat builders and vessel operators. The new Northern Lights Gulf branch, which will employ a full-time sales, parts and service staff, will warehouse marine, industrial and commercial series products. The new branch will service customers in the Gulf of Mexico and navigable inland waterways in the Midwest and Eastern regions of the U.S., including the region’s key ports: New Orleans, Houston, Pensacola and Paducah.

Volvo Penta Debuts New Diesel Engine and IPS

Ever since the global financial meltdown of 2008 briefly crippled the world leisure boat market, Volvo Penta adopted a strategy to increase its commercial market share with its family of innovative propulsion systems and controls. Last week off the west coast of Sweden, Maritime Reporter & Engineering News got up close and personal with the new D8 diesel and IPS15 pod, as well as the full range of command and control products courtesy of a day of test drives at Krossholmen, Volvo Penta’s Global Marine Testing Center.

Northern Lights Hires Great Lakes/Inland Waterways Manager

Marine power generation and climate control products manufacturer Northern Lights, Inc. (NLI) has appointed 35-year industry veteran Kevin Kyle as Area Manager for the Great Lakes and Inland Waterways Region. Kyle will serve the needs of boat builders, architects, captains and end users of Northern Lights and Technicold products in the region. The market area includes commercial, military and government vessels, private yachts and trawlers, in both the United States and Canada. Kyle brings a variety of marine industry experience to the NLI team.

Purdy Joins Northern Lights

Northern Lights, a manufacturer of marine power generation and climate control products, announced the appointment of Kit Purdy as new Global Sales Manager. Purdy’s responsibilities will include day-to-day management of the sales department and staff, as well as strategically assisting all Northern Lights branches in all market segments – recreational and commercial marine and industrial products. Purdy’s passion for engines and being on the water began as a child growing up on Bainbridge Island, Wash.

3sun Invests in Future Growth

Great-Yarmouth based 3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry, has reported a turnover of £13.7 million for the financial year 2012/13. The company’s turnover increased almost threefold from 2010/2011, going from £2.4million to £6.5million, and almost doubled from 2011/2012 with an increase to £11.4million. Its projected turnover for the 2013/14 financial year is on track to be £25million, following the recent acquisition of RRC Controls Services, an established manufacturer of subsea control systems for the offshore oil and gas industry.

Winch Instrument Display Provider Wins Award

Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) wins US Small Business Administration Excellence Award. The 'Excellence' award was given for supporting Lockheed Martin’s aerostat program with the US Defense Department. This award recognizes small businesses that have excelled in their performance in support of large prime contractors. “MTNW was nominated by Lockheed Martin because we were able to provide industry leading technology at a lower cost and in half the time of previous winch instrumentation and display providers,” said Tom Rezanka, Vice President MTNW.

Ampol Performs Cleanup on Platform Recovery Project

American Pollution Control Corp. (AMPOL), a leading oil spill response and total environmental solutions provider, has completed the oil spill recovery and environmental cleanup on a recovered platform in Terrebonne Parish. Located offshore then transported to Dulac, La., the once downed platform had to be modified in the air and positioned on a barge to fit under a bridge leading to the recycling facility. PCT Acceptance for Miratech’s V-CAT Catalyst

Miratech Corporation, designer and manufacturer of emission control products, has been notified that the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) application submitted for its V-CAT catalyst has been accepted. Acceptance of the PCT opens the door to and simplifies the process for subsequent international patent filings.
