Malaysia's Tanjung Bruas Port (TBP), a member of MMC Group, announced that it now offers container ships services at its Tanjung Bruas Port terminal.TBP recently welcomed the MV West Scent, the first Container vessel to ever call its terminal at Tanjung Bruas Port. The 145.68 meters long MV West Scent came alongside on 18 April 2019 with an exchange of 1,150 move counts.The specially chartered Container vessel by manufacturer Xinyi Glass Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, is currently at TBP berth and will depart to Humen Port, China after completing its cargo operations.

In the first nine months of the year, the Port of Hamburg transferred substantially more freight on to rail - Seaborne cargo handling was below the previous year’s level, owing to less bulk cargo and a slight downturn in container handling, while there was an increase for conventional general cargo.In the Port of Hamburg, railborne container transport achieved a distinct advance of 4.3 percent in the first nine months of the year. Port of Hamburg Throughput Dips
The Port of Hamburg achieved total throughput of 66.5 million tons in the first half of 2018, representing a moderate downturn of 4.9 percent, with the downward trend slowing in the second quarter.General cargo throughput at 45.5 million tons (down 2.2 percent) and bulk cargo throughput at 21.1 million tons (down 10.4 percent) contributed to the total in Hamburg. Bulk cargo represents one-third of the total. This segment caused 71 percent of the total downturn, with reductions in suction and liquid cargoes being market-driven.

Liverpool2 to Receive New Container Services
Peel Ports’ flagship deep-water container terminal, Liverpool2, will welcome its largest regular caller to date when 2M (Maersk and MSC alliance) introduce a new transatlantic container service to the port beginning July 22, 2018.2M is switching its TA2 service from Felixstowe to Liverpool on a temporary basis. At the same time, Maersk Line’s South American service, Colombia Express, will also start calling at the port of Liverpool, exporting UK goods to Newark.Liverpool will be the final port of call for both weekly services as they head westbound across the Atlantic.

The service provided by container shipping lines has deteriorated since 2016 and is now seen by exporters, importers and freight forwarders as more problematic, according to the second annual shipper satisfaction survey of Drewry and the European Shippers’ Council (ESC). The joint ESC and Drewry survey reveals that the 400 shippers and forwarders who took part rated the service of container shipping lines with a score of 3.2 on average on a scale of 1 (very dissatisfied) to 5 (very satisfied).

Ocean carrier APL announced today it will introduce two new weekly services from central and southern China connecting to Indonesia and Australia respectively.APL's new China Southeast Asia Service 8 (CS8) set to commence on June 30 will provide direct access from Shanghai, Ningbo and Shekou to Indonesia’s Jakarta and Surabaya. Its service rotation is Shanghai – Ningbo – Shekou – Jakarta – Surabaya – Kaohsiung – Shanghai.Shipments from Shanghai will arrive in Jakarta and Surabaya in as soon as eight and 11 days respectively.

Nor Lines Adds Calls at Rotterdam
Samskip subsidiary Nor Lines will include calls at Rotterdam for the first time in its weekly multipurpose liner service connecting to Western, Mid and Northern Norway, with effect from June 1. The service is provided by Nor Lines’ liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fuelled vessels MV Kvitnos and MV Kvitbjorn, which each offer 1,500 lane square meters (550 lane meter) of RoRo capacity, 122 TEU as container space, 1,500 tons of reefer space in the lower holds and come equipped with a heavylift crane.

On a trade mission to India, the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) has signed a Cooperative Agreement with Mundra Port, Gujarat State, north of Mumbai. This agreement aims to develop cooperation in marketing and business development while sharing information on marine operations and industry best practices.
