EU Ports Hails EP's Budget Hike for Transport

The European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism and the Industry Committee jointly adopted the Marinescu- Telička- Virrkkunen report on the Connecting Europe Facility proposal (CEF) 2021-2027.The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) welcomes the demand for an increased budget for transport. EC Selects Enagás Initiative to Boost LNG

The ‘LNGHIVE2: Infrastructure and Logistics Solutions’ project, coordinated by Enagás, has been selected by the European Commission ‘Connecting Europe Facility’ (CEF) for funding.The initiative aims to boost the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a fuel for maritime and rail transport. ESPO Calls for Strengthening Maritime Connectivity at EU Ports

The investment needs of European ports over the next ten years amount to 48 billion EUR. Many port investments score high in creating societal value but the return on investment for the investor, the port managing body, is often low and slow.For these investments, external funding is needed. Turi Fiorito to Become New EFIP Director

Turi Fiorito has been appointed as new Director of the European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP). He will take up his function on 20 August, 2018. Turi Fiorito comes with a solid background in EU policy making and transport, having worked as Transport Policy Advisor for a Dutch Member of the European Parliament, Wim van de Camp. In that capacity, Turi has been working on different port (Port Services Regulation), rail (4th railway package) and inland waterway issues for a number of years.

Organisations Across Europe Ask EU to Invest More in Transport

With the slogan “More EU budget for transport, the best investment plan for Europe” a coalition of thirty European transport organisations are launching today their campaign for a strong connecting Europe Facility for the next financial period 2021-2028. “We are very pleased  to see that 30 transport organisations, covering all modes and nodes, service providers, users and cargo owners are supporting this plea for a strong financial support for the completion of the TEN-T network," says ESPO’s Secretary General Isabelle Ryckbost. "750 billion euro is needed to complete the TEN-T core network.

Shell loads first LNG vessel at Gate Terminal

Shell’s started operations of the new LNG fuel infrastructure at Gas Access to Europe (Gate) terminal in the Netherlands. The new LNG fuel infrastructure included the construction of a new berth. This new berth has now started operations. The loading of Shell’s chartered LNG vessel, the Coral Methane happened on the 19th of September. ·In July 2014, Shell took the Final Investment Decision to buy capacity at the Gas Access to Europe (Gate) terminal, which enabled the investment in new, dedicated liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel infrastructure.

EU Ministers Agree on TEN-T

The EU transport ministers convened at the first day of the TEN-T Days in the Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam. They discussed the process of implementing the Trans-European Transport Network: new challenges and opportunities, new technologies and mobility patterns for passengers, as well as digitalization and automation of freight transport. EU Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc said, "Only days after we allocated €6.7 billion to priority projects as part of the Connecting Europe Facility, the TEN-T Days offer another opportunity to mobilise funding for transport investments.

Klaipedos Nafta and Port of Helsingborg Sign LNG Deal

Lithuania’s Klaipedos Nafta has signed a deal with the port of Helsingborg to cooperate on the HEKLA – Helsingborg & Klaipeda LNG infrastructure facility deployment project (HEKLA). Klaipedos Nafta has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Spanish Association of Natural Gas for Mobility (GASNAM) to cooperate on the standardisation of LNG bunkering operations. According to the agreement with port of Helsingborg, Klaipedos Nafta acquires the right to use the financial support of EUR 6 million of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) part of the EU financing program…
