It’s not every “tugboat magnate” who is willing to show up at work in full Halloween costume, nor capable of running a NYC marathon in under 4 hours – decked out in Harry Potter wizard regalia, complete with hat, cape and wand – while wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the name of a life-long friend who is fighting cancer. But that’s Brian Buckley McAllister, the fifth generation of his family to lead McAllister Towing. In fact Buckley and his brother (and co-owner) Eric, Chief Financial Officer, are one of the few family members to not hold a maritime degree, pilot or captain’s license.

McAllister Towing Celebrates 150 in Style

McAllister Towing hosted a dual celebration in New York City on Friday, September 19, a gala in honor of the company’s 150th anniversary and a traditional christening of the Buckley McAllister, the latest high tech tractor tug added to the company’s fleet. Pier 60 at Chelsea piers was packed with a veritable “Who’s Who” in the maritime industry as Captain Brian A. McAllister, Chairman (4th generation); Buckley McAllister, President (5th generation) and Eric McAllister, CFO (5th generation) presided over the signature New York event.

Frank Morton Elected AWO Chairman

The members of the American Waterways Operators (AWO), the national trade association representing the tugboat, towboat and barge industry, elected a new slate of leaders during AWO’s Spring Convention recently held in Washington, D.C. Frank Morton, Director, Turn Services LLC, was elected as Chairman and David Sehrt, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Ingram Barge Company, was elected as Vice Chairman. Morton succeeds outgoing Chairman Buckley McAllister, President, McAllister Towing.

Maine Port Authority, McAllister Colloborate on "Containerized" ATB

Maine Port Authority selected McAllister as its partner for the design of a containerized articulated tug barge (ATB) for the New England Marine Highway Project, according to Buckley McAllister, President of McAllister Towing & Transportation. Prior to the award, McAllister participated in a competitive RFQ and RFP process which began on December 4, 2012. Buckley McAllister Elected AWO Chairman

The members of the American Waterways Operators, the national trade association representing the tugboat, towboat and barge industry, elected a new slate of leaders during AWO’s Spring Convention recently held in Washington, D.C. Buckley McAllister, President, McAllister Towing, was elected as Chairman and Frank Morton, Director, Turn Services, LLC was elected as Vice Chairman. Mr. McAllister succeeds outgoing Chairman Linn Peterson, Kirby Inland Marine, LP. In his remarks to the membership, AWO President & CEO Tom Allegretti praised the leadership of Mr. Peterson during his term as Chairman.

Buckley McAllister named President of McAllister Towing

McAllister Towing is pleased to announce that Buckley McAllister has been promoted to the position of President. Captain Brian A. McAllister, President of the Company since 1984, will remain as Chairman. Buckley McAllister joined McAllister Towing in 1998 and has served as the company’s Vice President and General Counsel since that time. Prior to joining McAllister Towing, Buckley was an Associate at Hill, Betts and Nash LLP. He is a member of the bar in New York, California and a number of federal jurisdictions.

McAllister Joins Marine Response Alliance

The directors of Marine Response Alliance LLC (MRA or Alliance) announced that McAllister Towing and Transportation Co., Inc. (McAllister) has joined the MRA as a full and equal member. McAllister is now united with the other MRA member companies—Crowley Marine Services, Inc. (Crowley), Marine Pollution Control Corporation (MPC), Titan Maritime LLC (Titan) and Marine Hazard Response (MHR)  (a joint venture of Wild Well Control, Inc. and Williams Fire and Hazard Control, Inc.) to provide OPA-90 Salvage and Marine Firefighting services to the maritime community.
