USMMA Board of Visitors to Convene
U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao has announced the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s (USMMA) new 16 member Board of Visitors will convene for the first time at Kings Point on Monday, February 3 at 9:00 a.m. (click here for additional information). The Board will serve through October 2021.“The Department is dedicated to providing midshipmen with the finest possible education, preparing them to excel as mariners and military officers,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L.

ABS' Wiernicki Receives Vanderbilt Alumni Award
ABS Chairman, President and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki has been inducted to the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering Academy of Distinguished Alumni and also named to the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering’s Board of Visitors. Obama Taps Foss VP for USMMA Board
Susan Hayman, Foss Maritime VP of HSQE & External Affairs, has been nominated by President Barack Obama to the United States Merchant Marine Academy's (USMMA) Board of Visitors. This key administrative post is for a term of two years, commencing at the beginning of each Congress. The board is made up of Congressional representatives and Presidential appointees, including two alumni. It provides oversight, advice and recommendations on matters relating to USMMA. Hayman is a 1980 graduate of USMMA and a 1986 graduate of Harvard Business School.

Jepson Elected GPA Board Chairman
The Board of Directors of the Georgia Ports Authority today elected Robert S. Jepson Jr. of Savannah to serve as chairman of the board. Jepson was first appointed to the Board of Directors in 2008 by Governor Sonny Perdue and previously served as vice chairman. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of Jepson Associates, Inc., a private investment firm he founded in 1989. Jepson will follow Alec L. Poitevint II, who served as GPA chairman of the board for the past two years.
