Adam Joins BMT Board

Design, engineering and risk management consultancy BMT Group Ltd informs that Richard Adam has joined its board as a nonexecutive director. Qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1982, Adam has a wealth of financial acumen, M&A and international business experience, having served as finance director of private and listed businesses for nearly 30 years. From 2007 until retiring in 2016 he was group finance director of Carillion plc and previously, he held the same role at Associated British Ports Holdings plc for seven years.

Kenny to Take the BMT Helm

When BMT Group Ltd (BMT) current CEO Peter French retires in September, he will be succeeded by  Sarah Kenny, who joins BMT on August 1. “Sarah is well qualified to take on this role," said BMT’s Chairman, Sir John Hood. "She is ambitious for BMT and her extensive background in the marine and defence industries means she is ideally positioned to ensure that BMT’s research and development roots are cultivated and innovation nurtured. Kenny comes from QinetiQ where most recently she established and led the Maritime, Land & Weapons business as Managing Director, reporting to the Group CEO.

SHIPLYS to Advance Ship Design, Production Process

The European Commission has granted 6.2 Million Euros ($6.9mln) for a new research project called SHIPLYS (Ship Lifecycle Software Solutions). The project gathers a team of 12 leading maritime companies and research facilities from several European countries in order to develop simulation and modelling tools that will minimise the time and costs involved in ship design and production. Calculation and modelling tools currently used to overcome these needs are difficult to use and time consuming, especially for SMEs.

BMT Upgrades Its REMBRANDT Simulator

BMT Ship & Coastal Dynamics, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has announced new enhancements to its marine navigation and maneuvering simulator, REMBRANDT, used globally by pilot organizations, shipping companies, naval architects, civil marine engineers and port authorities. Separate controls for setting wind, wave and swell wave parameters have been introduced. By allowing independent control of these features, more realistic scenarios can be examined – a feature of particular relevance for offshore simulations, as well as certain critical port approach maneuvers, BMT noted.

BMT Appoints New Chairman

International maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy BMT Group announced the appointment of Sir John Hood KNZM as Chairman of BMT Group Ltd. with effect from October 1, 2015, following the retirement of Dr. Neil Cross at the end of BMT’s financial year on September 30. Sir John Hood is a nonexecutive director of BG Group plc and WPP plc, chairman of Urenco Ltd (from which he will retire later this year), Matakina Ltd., and Study Group Ltd.; president and chief executive officer of the Robertson Foundation; and chair of the Rhodes Trust and Teach For All.

BMT, Endeavour Energy Win Africa’s LNG Import Terminal Contract

BMT Asia Pacific (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has been appointed Owners Engineer and lead design consultant by Endeavour Energy for the development of the LNG storage and regasification facility, a part of the Ghana 1000 Gas to Power Project and Africa’s first LNG import terminal. Endeavour is co-leading development with General Electric, Eranove and local partners Sage Petroleum with the aim of providing the Ghanian government with Sub Saharan Africa’s largest power park, providing more than 1000MW to the national grid once completed.

BMT WBM (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has announced that the Hawkesbury-Nepean River and South Creek model, developed for Sydney Water has been awarded the Program Innovation Award at this year’s Australian Water Association’s (AWA) New South Wales (NSW) Awards. Marine and coastal environment specialist, BMT Oceanica (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has been awarded the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association’s (APPEA) “Understanding the Risks of Unplanned Discharges” study. BMT Names New Offshore O&G Sales Manager

BMT Group Ltd (BMT) has appointed Ray McGlynn as Sales Manager for Offshore Oil and Gas. McGlynn will be responsible for European and African regional sales support and assisting Louise Ledgard, Offshore Oil and Gas Business Development Lead in supporting the coordination of ocean engineering sales across the BMT Group. BMT Reports Solid Performance

BMT Group Ltd (BMT) has announced a solid financial performance for the year to September 30, 2013. Although market conditions have been challenging, BMT secured revenues of £163.3m, an increase of 5% year on year, with underlying operating profits of £11.3m, a proportion of which has been distributed to the staff through the company’s profit share schemes.
