DNV GL First Type Approval for Aluminium Cables Onboard Ships

As the competitive and economic pressure on the shipping and offshore industries continues to grow, owners, operators and yards are searching for every efficiency. To support its customers, DNV GL has developed the first type approval scheme for the use of aluminium cables and connectors onboard vessels. “This type approval represents another first for the DNV GL rule set and demonstrates our commitment to moving classification forward to help our customers,” says Geir Dugstad, Senior Vice President, Director of Ship Classification & Technical Director at DNV GL - Maritime.

Bibby Offshore: BP North Sea Projects completed

Bibby Offshore has completed a contract worth more than £2million for BP in the North Sea. The project, completed in December 2017, utilised Bibby Offshore’s diving support vessel Bibby Topaz to carry out inspection, repair and maintenance operations in the Rhum gas field, approximately 380 kilometres north-east of Aberdeen. The scope included control system low insulation resistance diagnostics and component replacements, manual valve operations and ROV inspection works at BP’s Bruce platform, which is located 44 kilometres south of Rhum.

Grand Bahama Shipyard Reports Commercial Success

Caribbean shipyard Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) said it has completed work on 30 commercial vessels within first half of 2017, predominantly comprised of companies returning to the yard with repeat business including tankers, bulk carriers, containerships, tugs, dive support vessels and drilling support vessels. BP Awards Bibby Combined Diving Campaign

Bibby Offshore, a subsea services provider to the oil and gas industry, says it has secured a 15-day project with BP, due to commence in August 2016. The contract will see diving support vessel Bibby Topaz, working on four BP operations across three of its North Sea assets. The platforms involved include Central North Sea-based asset Bruce, east of Shetland-based Magnus, and the Mirren field, which is part of the Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP), one of the largest and most complex North Sea oil and gas developments of the past 20 years.

Underwater Center Links with Bibby for ROV Apprenticeships

Scottish subsea training facility, The Underwater Center, has partnered with Bibby Offshore to provide ROV apprentices with the opportunity to gain practical, unique hands-on experience. Kennedy Joins Bibby Offshore Board

Bibby Offshore Holdings Limited, a provider of subsea installation, inspection, repair and maintenance (“IRM”) services to the offshore oil and gas industry, announced the appointment of Archie Kennedy to the Board of Bibby Offshore as a Non-Executive Director. Kennedy previously served on the company’s board between 2011 and 2012. Kennedy is a chartered engineer with over 35 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He has previously held roles as Managing Director of Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd. (2012-2015) and Managing Director of ConocoPhillips UK Ltd. (2004-2009).

Bibby Wins North Sea Decommissioning Contract

Subsea services provider to the oil and gas industry Bibby Offshore (BOUK) has secured a multimillion pound contract with a North Sea Operator, to deliver decommissioning operations in the Northern North Sea East Shetland Basin. The agreement, due to commence in Q2 of 2016 and be completed by the end of 2016, will utilise one of Bibby Offshore’s construction support vessels with adequate deck space and crane capabilities to execute operations approximately 550km North-East of Aberdeen.

iSURVEY Strengthens North Sea Presence

iSURVEY Group, a leading provider of survey and positioning services to the global oil and gas and telecommunications sectors, has boosted its North Sea presence following a number of contract wins and the appointment of a new business development manager. Following the recent announcement of a contract extension with Nexans Norway AS, iSURVEY has also been awarded a second contract extension with AGR to provide rig move and positioning services for the company and its clients, Faroe and Engie, during their exploration-drilling campaigns in 2016.

Bibby Offshore Provides Lifeline to O&G Industry

On an evening in September 2012, a rare sequence of events left one of Bibby Offshore’s saturation divers stranded in complete darkness, 90 meters below the surface of the North Sea, without any gas to breathe. The diver was rescued and recovered fully, but Bibby Offshore wanted to share its experience and the lessons learnt in the most effective way, so in collaboration with floating Harbour Productions, created a documentary style film, Lifeline, using real time footage and reconstruction of the event to recount the remarkable events that took place that evening.

Seatronics Names Group QHSE Coordinator

Seatronics Ltd. has appointed Joanne Keilloh as the group’s new coordinator for quality, health, safety, environment (QHSE).    Based in Aberdeen, Keilloh will lead the QHSE function within the Seatronics Group and Acteon sister company, J2 Subsea. She will support the companies’ global bases in driving QHSE strategy and culture alongside local QHSE representatives.   Keilloh holds experience in QHSE from previous roles with Bibby Offshore and DOF Subsea.

Kleven Delivers Construction Vessel to Olympic Shipping

Offshore construction vessel Olympic Bibby, build no. 371 from Kleven Verft, has been delivered to Norwegian shipowner Olympic Shipping. The vessel has a long term charter with Bibby Offshore, and its first job will be on the British sector of the North Sea. The naming ceremony was held in Olympic’s home harbor Fosnavåg April 9. The vessel is 87.5 m long and 19 m wide, making the entrance to the narrow harbor (22 m wide) a spectacular sight, the builder noted. The vessel is of MT 6021 design from Marin Teknikk…

Kongsberg Maritime Launches DP Training Course

Kongsberg Maritime has reported an increase in the number of delegates partaking in its training courses. From 2013 to 2014, delegates rose by 26%; there was also a 36% increase in courses delivered from its training center in Westhill, Aberdeen. Harkand Appoints Inspection Manager

Harkand has appointed Andrew Inglis as a new inspection manager based in the company’s Aberdeen office.  Inglis brings to the post more than 15 years’ experience in delivering subsea inspection services in the North Sea region, having previously held inspection management roles at Subsea 7 and Bibby Offshore Ltd. Harkand currently has a team of 20 in its inspection services division which supports work in the UKCS as well as the Gulf of Mexico and Africa regions.

Bibby Offshore Names Hughes Interim Managing Director

Pete Hughes has been appointed by Bibby Offshore as Interim Managing Director, Asia Pacific, effective immediately. Hughes currently serves as the company’s Strategic Delivery Director and takes over the role from Darren Morgan who has left to pursue opportunities outside the group. Malcolm Rennie, currently Bibby Offshore Singapore’s ROV Manger, has been appointed General Manager in the region.

Bibby Offshore Expands

Bibby Offshore  announced a successful first quarter of the year for its recently opened Newcastle office. With existing premises in Aberdeen and Liverpool, Bibby Offshore is expanding its presence across the UK. Since its opening in November 2013, the Newcastle office has employed 23 skilled personnel, with a further ten to be recruited in the coming months. The 4724sqft office, located in Gateshead Quays on the River Tyne, will provide Bibby Offshore with an excellent hub in the region both now and as it increases staff numbers and service offerings in the future.

BOS Completes Short Notice Call Out Contract

Bibby Offshore Singapore (BOS) said it has successfully completed a call out contract with PTT Exploration & Production Co Ltd (PTTEP). The project involved a short notice mobilization, and saw the BOS-operated DP2 ROV Support Vessel, the Bibby Spring perform subsea inspection services to PTTEP’s Bongkot Field assets in the Gulf of Thailand. The work was successfully completed within PTTEP’s restricted timeframe. Bibby Offshore Appoints New Commercial Director

Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has appointed Nicky Etherson as its new commercial director to help facilitate the company’s ambitious growth plans. Ms. Etherson joins the business with almost 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, having previously held the position of head of contracts for Total E&P UK Limited. Here she was responsible for managing all aspects of the contracts function, supported by a team of 15 personnel, covering a range of services including; drilling, well control, subsea support, logistics and topside operations.
