The first commercial vessel, Maersk Cape Coast has docked at the Terminal 3 at Tema Port after 3 years of expansion and modernization works to complete the first two berths.The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, which operates the harbor is located along the Gulf of Guinea, said that with the state-of-the-art technology and equipment, 1,427 containers were discharged and 730 containers loaded.Incidentally, Maersk Cape Coast was inaugurated and christened at the port of Tema in 2011.

World's First Offshore Fish Farm Rig
Rolls-Royce signed a contract for the construction and delivery of an eight point mooring system to the world’s first offshore fish farm installation being developed for Ocean Farming AS, a subsidiary of the SalMar Group in Norway. The equipment will be used to secure the installation to the seabed at Frohavet, off the coast of central Norway. The 68 meter high rig will have a diameter of 110 meters and a volume of 250.000 cubic meters. OSC Launches VLCC Chartering Business
Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has officially set up a new commercial chartering desk offering its Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCCs) to major traders and charterers covering VLCC routes worldwide. OSC, one of the biggest ship owners in the MENA region, has a diversified and young fleet of 50 vessels. OSC owns 16 VLCCs within the fleet out of which OSC is now commercially managing 15 VLCCs through its subsidiary Oman Charter Company (OCC). The move follows an announcement in December 2016 which saw OSC withdrawing 15 VLCCs from the VL8 pool based in Singapore.
Vard Confirms Fishing Vessel Contract for Aker BioMarine

ETF, ECSA Join for Digitalisation in Shipping
European seafarers and shipowners highlight the importance that shipping is urgently better served by smart digital solutions to finally decrease the administrative burden they face. European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) and European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA) call on the European Commission to prioritise this matter as part of its Digital Agenda and Better Regulation Initiative and to propose a revision in time for it to be completed during this legislature. King Abdullah Port Throughput up by 14% In H1 2017
King Abdullah Port announced the increase of its throughput to 821,694 TEU in the first half of 2017, representing an increase of around 14% compared to the same time last year, where the throughput was 720,483 TEU. The port also announced an increase in the number of vessels received during the same period, reaching 398 vessels compared to 349 in the first half of 2016, also representing a 14% increase.
