ClassNK Releases Mobile App for PSC Inspection

Classification society ClassNK has released the Arrival Checklist  for PSC, the preparatory checklist mobile app for PSC inspections. Arrival Checklist  for PSC digitalizes the updated contents of ClassNK’s Port State Inspections Pocket Checklist and is now available for smartphones and tablets. Arrival Checklist  for PSC allows users to access the checklist with greater ease and efficiency during preparatory checks of onboard equipment and others prior to arrival into port. The app was developed as a ship management solution to help minimize the risk of PSC detentions and deficiencies.

IMMA App Offers Access to Maritime Medical Stores

Deteriorating seafarer health and poorly-stocked onboard medical chests are major issues concerning maritime medical practitioners, which is why the International Maritime Medical Association (IMMA) has developed an App-driven Maritime Medical Stores Catalog designed to ensure that vessel owners and managers are meeting obligations when it comes to looking after the health of their crew. More than 1,500 companies have already downloaded this tool to purchase medical and health-related items needed onboard ship.

EfficienSea2 Rolls out Maritime Cloud

The Danish-led e-navigation project, EfficienSea2, got one step closer to being launched when a core element of the project – Maritime Cloud – was debated by a group of international maritime organisations and companies. The purpose of the project EfficienSea2 is to develop and implement e-navigation and, thus, up-to-date technology on board ships by introducing and using modern communication, navigation and administrative systems. The concept behind the Maritime Cloud has been developed by the Danish Maritime Authority in connection with previous international projects.

NOAA Mobile App Provides Free Nautical Charts

As recreational boaters gear up for a summer of fun on coastal waters and the Great Lakes, NOAA is testing MyNOAACharts, a new mobile application that allows users to download NOAA nautical charts and editions of the U.S. Coast Pilot. The app, which is only designed for Android tablets for the testing period, will be released today. MyNOAACharts, which can be used on land and on the water, has GPS built-in capabilities that allow users find their positions on a NOAA nautical chart.

Los Angeles longshore attorney launches first free, custom mobile app for longshore workers. The Law Offices of Charles D. Naylor, developed the app to meet the needs of longshore workers. Insurance Brokers Embrace UK Club Underwriting App

The UK Club has launched its “iPANDI” iPad based app to provide up to date underwriting information for members and their insurance brokers, even when on the move. The iPANDI app downloads underwriting data via the Club’s IT systems and presents it conveniently in both graphic and table formats. The data can be viewed off line, for example on planes or away from the office. Security is maintained by a unique licence key to access member information. The licence key is only entered once to initiate the data download to the iPad.
