CMA CGM Starts Weekly Service from Port Pipavav

The dedicated scheduled import train from Port Pipavav to Garhi Harsaru [NCR region] is operated by Gateway Rail Freight Ltd. (GRFL) for CMA CGM. The import train arrived at Garhi Harsaru on June 12th, 2019 and was received by Mr. Ugo Vincent, Managing Director CMA CGM India, and senior management from CMA CGM, Gateway Rail Freight Ltd. (GRFL) and APM Terminals Pipavav. The Import train which connects Pipavav to Garhi, Ludhiana & Piyala has a capacity of 180TEUs in a single run.The scheduled train service will provide reliable, safe and quick transport of commodities to the NCR region.

Vessel Training Simulation at Tema Port

The first vessel has successfully docked at Tema Port’s new MPS Terminal 3, Ghana, said a statement from APM Terminals.The container vessel will be used for training purposes over the coming weeks, to ensure that the terminal runs smoothly from day one, when operations begin later this month on June 28.Chartering the test vessel will cost around 250,000 Dollars. Algeciras Hits Recond in Vessel Movement

APM Terminals Algeciras hits a new Port Moves Per Hour (PMPH) record for a vessel berthed at Juan Carlos I berth. On Monday, 25th of March, 187,82  PMPH were registered on MSC Kalina.The Operations Department of the largest terminal in the Mediterranean confirmed that this is the best result since MSC Ditte called in September 2017. $1B Container Terminal for Costa Rica

A consortium of Van Oord and BAM International completed the construction of the APM Terminals Moín in Costa Rica. Last week’s inauguration of the container terminal will enable products to be shipped on transatlantic routes to European and Asian markets without transshipment.The project represents a total investment of $1 billion and is built on a 40-hectare artificial island. The terminal has a 650-m long quay wall and a container yard with the capacity to hold 26,000 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), including power connection capacity for 3,800 refrigerated containers.

Maastricht Maersk Makes Maiden Call to Rotterdam

APM Terminals Barcelona Cuts CO2

The electrical capacity of the APM Terminals Barcelona has also been improved, leading to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 600 tonnes per annum, said the international container terminal operating company headquartered in The Hague.As part of a broader Port of Barcelona’s programme for alternative fuel use, APM Terminals is also working with LNG services provider HAM, technology provider IDIADA and Naturgy Iberia, on a pilot to convert an existing straddle carrier to natural gas.Natural gas burns a lot more cleanly and efficiently than diesel.

To address rapid increases in volumes APM Terminals Inland Services Ecuador introduced an accurate and reliable Truck Appointment System (TAS).This approach has already proved itself at other APM Terminals’ facilities, including neighbouring Peru. The system allows for much better co-ordination of arrivals and departures leading to significantly shorter wait times for trucks.The system now allows truck arrivals at the facility to be spread evenly throughout the day with a truck turnaround time of just 45 minutes.

APM Terminals announced that its Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) at Port Said, Egypt has achieved major efficiencies in yard and quay operations after fine tuning the Navis N4 Expert Decking Module, the system which automates yard planning.According to the Hague-headquartered international container terminal operating company, the system is used to automate planning by distributing containers throughout the yard based on predefined rules."Typically yard planning is extremely time-consuming, costly and inaccurate.
