There are a number of shipbuilding facilities throughout the Gulf Coast region but the facilities at LEEVAC are second to none. From our well-equipped CAD engineering department to our state-of-the-art indoor fabrication shops complete with an automated NC cutting table, panel line, CNC pipe fabricator – we provide everything needed to get the job done quickly, efficiently and safely.

With more than 130,000 square feet of covered fabrication shops, there are virtually no weather delays to hold up your project. And with the latest equipment available in our shops, we are able to proficiently build the high quality panels and modules that drive both our production line and automated pipe shop. Once the modules are built, our 200 ton module transporter allows us to lift and move units quickly and safely throughout the yard.

Our warehouse complex features more than 30,000 square feet, allowing us to store all critical project-specific long lead items – as well as stock items needed in our day-to-day operations.

We have more than 2,000 feet of wet dock area with 40 feet of water in the river – allowing for great versatility in the marketplace. To date, LEEVAC has built and launched marine equipment of up to 500 feet in length – and our launch system is capable of spanning up to 700 feet in length if needed.

In addition, we have an 8,000 square feet pipe shop that houses the latest in automated CNC pipe equipment – allowing our craftsmen to prefab and spool pipe indoors then transfer to the vessel for installation.

All of these facilities and features greatly enhance our employees’ ability to "Make It Happen” for our clients – keeping the LEEVAC commitment of delivering a quality product on time and on budget a reality.

In September 2010, LEEVAC opened another Louisiana vessel repair facility located on nine acres in Lake Charles, Louisiana in the Port of Lake Charles LNG plant turning basin. This facility, known formally as LEEVAC Shipyards Lake Charles, LLC, allows us to better meet the vessel repair and conversion needs of our customers. Located 17 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, our Lake Charles yard has no restrictions coming from the Gulf, with all deepwater access including deepwater at the docks. The ship repair facility features more than 11,000 feet of waterfront, plus a 3,500-ton floating drydock measuring 300 feet long and 64 feet between wing walls. Focused on topside repair and drydocking, our Lake Charles facility also provides two cranes with a capacity of 165 tons, full support equipment and available potable water. The vessel repair facility also features a yard that is 100% concrete and asphalt.

In addition to our Lake Charles ship repair facility, our company offers further repair and conversion services at LEEVAC South (the former SBA Shipyard). This yard is located 2.5 miles south of the main LEEVAC shipyard on the Mermentau River near Jennings, Louisiana. The LEEVAC South yard features a graving dock capable of handling vessels up to 400 feet in length and 80 feet in width. Measuring 500 feet by 250 feet, this graving dock also has a capacity of 15,000 tons. Twenty-five miles below the LEEVAC South facility, the Mermentau River intersects the Intracoastal Canal at mile marker 202 – providing direct passage to the Gulf of Mexico.

LEEVAC offers a full range of vessel repair and conversion services, including the latest in marine paint products and techniques, sandblasting, steel replacement, mechanical repairs and upgrades, electrical repairs and upgrades – as well as warehousing services. In addition, we offer gas free services, which includes the cleaning of tanks on barges and tank vessels.

Along with well equipped facilities and a wide range of services, LEEVAC provides a team of highly skilled craftsmen dedicated to vessel repair and conversion. Some of our employees are third and fourth generation Louisiana shipbuilders, providing our customers with decades of hands-on experience and expertise. In addition, all of our vessel conversions, modifications and repairs are supported by our in-house engineering department. Our staff of engineers includes pipe designers, structural steel designers, electrical engineers, HVAC specialists and a naval architect. Our ship engineering & design department stays in close communication with our repair and conversion personnel in order to ensure the quality of our work as well as adherence to all codes, federal regulations and safety requirements.

LEEVAC has a great deal of experience in the repair and conversion of a wide variety of vessels and barges utilized throughout the maritime industry. Our experience in this area includes a number of highly specialized projects including converting supply boats to be used in the United States drug interdiction program, as well as modifying supply boats for military sealift command used to escort U.S. nuclear submarines.

LEEVAC can provide repair and conversion services for virtually any type of vessel or barge. Furthermore, we can repair any and all types of vessels that our company manufactures, which are listed as follows.
