VSD Subsidiary Appoints Managing Director

VSD Global (VSDG), a subsidiary of VSD, LLC (VSD), headquartered in Virginia Beach, Va., has appointed Fred Stewart, CPT to the position of managing director.

 

Fred was selected after serving as international business development director of VSD for the past four years. He has significant experience with the U.S. Navy, extensive knowledge of international markets, and a background in the training community. He has a bachelor’s in sociology/education, and a master’s certification in training systems. Fred began his Navy career as an enlisted boiler technician and was commissioned as a naval officer specializing in steam propulsion and engineering systems. He first served as a Navy instructor before being designated a master training specialist.

 

As an officer in the Navy, he completed tours as the director of Damage Control School, director of Main Propulsion Maintenance School, and as a human factors engineer for the Navy’s Human Performance Center (HPC). He gained experience in various human performance analyses including job task, cognitive, occupational, training needs, and related assessments. During his time at the HPC, he also authored the Navy’s approach to job task analysis procedures and became a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT). Fred’s last tour as a naval officer was with the Chief of Naval Operations where he was the joint and naval professional military education branch head for the Naval War College and Naval Postgraduate School. He was also the training and education subject matter expert on various education requirements such as language, regional expertise, and cultural awareness. Additionally, he allocated funding to various activities in line with government financial guidelines and produced budgetary planning information for senior flag officers, congressional staff, and the Office of Management and Budget.

 

Before joining VSD, Fred was a principal management consultant assigned at Fleet Forces Command where, among other responsibilities, he performed assessments of the Navy’s Fleet Readiness Training Plan and their joint and fleet training requirements, and managed bridging processes of knowledge and skills gaps in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom efforts. Fred sits on the board of directors for the Hampton Roads Navy League, and previously served on the board of directors for the International Society for Performance Improvement.
