Shoreham Port's Davies Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

November 19, 2016

On Friday 11th November, the Adur and Worthing Business Awards took place, to celebrate business excellence within the local area and to give local businesses the chance to nominate fellow colleagues and other businesses for numerous categories of awards. The awards are in their sixth successful year with categories to suit all kinds of businesses from start-ups to large companies. As a Trust Port, the Port was eager to be a part of the event to celebrate the successes of the local business community.

Shoreham Port’s Development Director, Peter Davies was invited along and had been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award by an external Worthing Chamber of Commerce member. In Peter’s category judges were looking for someone who could demonstrate their unswerving commitment to their work and business acumen.

There were five contenders in the category, all of whom had achieved impressive accomplishments across their respective fields. Peter was delighted to win the award on the night. Peter’s background is in planning, development and urban regeneration, having previously worked at a senior management level for several local authorities both in the Midlands and more recently in the South of England.

Having previously worked as the Director of the Adur and Worthing Business Partnership, Peter joined Shoreham Port in 2007 where he leads the extensive property portfolio and the development of the Port’s environmental credentials.

Peter commented “I am delighted to have won this award and thank all judges and the people who thought I deserved it. I will be retiring soon and had planned to go out ‘quietly’ but now I will most definitely be going out on a high!” When asked what advice Peter would give to other business owners Peter continued “Putting something back into the community is definitely something I would recommend to others.”

Tina Tilley, CEO of Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce commented, “Having worked with Peter over the past ten or more years I know how passionately he has supported business growth in our area through the Port and the many committees he sits on so this is a well-deserved award for all his efforts. I think it took him by surprise! The Adur and Worthing Business Awards are a great showcase for the immense talent in our area so the Chamber is always proud to be involved.”
