Netwave has received a Type Approval Certificate from BSH in Hamburg for its new NW-6000 Voyage Data Recorder (VDR). The NW-6000 is certified against MSC 333 (90) and can be installed onboard vessels which require a new VDR.

“We have already received a large amount of orders in advance of our certification, both for new building projects as well as for retrofitting on existing vessels,” said Mark van Ede, Netwave Systems' sales director.

The NW-6000 is based on IEC61162-450Lightweight Ethernet infrastructure. This enables fast installation, reduced lengths of cabling and auto-configuring.

The NW-6000 includes functionality that enables the ship owner to remotely monitor the VDR. This includes the ability to receive hard beats, check on event logs, and, if needed, arrange complete downloads in case of emergency.

The Netwave NW-6000 is supported by the world’s largest VDR service network, which covers 65 countries, more than 160 ports, and features local APT and service support from  1100 engineers. With the introduction of the NW-6000, Netwave can guarantee a minimum of 7 years availability of spare parts.
