ABS Appoints New Chief Technology Officer
ABS named Howard Fireman as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) effective April 20 in a move that strengthens alignment and generates further synergies across all of ABS' technical programs, ABS announced. ABS President Wiernicki Signs New MARAD Agreement
The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) informs that it has entered into a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) establishing the policies and procedures regarding the survey and classification of the National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF). Riva to Serve as ABS Chief Surveyor
ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki announced the appointment of Joseph "Joe" Riva to the position of ABS Vice President and Chief Surveyor. This role is responsible for guiding and overseeing all ABS survey activities, applying a strong knowledge of ABS Rules and Guides and international regulations to create consistency and quality in service delivery. Riva will succeed Linwood "Lenny" Pendexter, who has held the position for ten years. ABS Reflects on Strong 2015 Performance
ABS held its Annual Meeting on April 26, 2016 in New York, where Chairman, President & CEO Christopher J. In 2015, the ABS-classed fleet surpassed 230 million gross tons (mgt), a nearly five percent growth from the previous year. The largest areas of expansion for the class society came from the tanker, gas carrier, containership, bulk carrier, offshore support vessel and offshore production unit sectors. In total, more than 841 new assets entered the ABS-classed fleet, bringing its total to 12,614 assets.
