Ørsted Restructures Offshore Biz

December 2, 2019

The offshore wind giant Ørsted has introduced a new operating model for the Offshore business, to support the execution of its project pipeline and future growth.

"The global market opportunities in renewables continue to expand and present significant opportunities for growth. In 2019, Ørsted expanded into Taiwan and the US with the award of significant projects," the largest energy company in Denmark said.

The new operating model creates a more scalable organisation for Ørsted’s international expansion which combines market proximity with global scale and efficiency.

Ørsted’s Offshore business will be organised in four regions. Each region will be responsible for market and project development as well as asset management, while construction and operation activities will be delivered from Ørsted’s global EPC and O&M organisation, in close collaboration with each region.

The four regions are: United Kingdom, Continental Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. The new organisation will be effective from 1 January 2020.

The UK leads the world in offshore wind and our UK business has successfully grown our offshore wind operations so that we now power over 3.2 million UK homes with clean, green electricity.

Duncan Clark will be appointed to the new role as Head of Region, UK and hold an end-to-end accountability for the offshore wind value chain in the UK.
