But engines don't actually propel a vessel, do they? I saw the byline for this forum, and smiled.

I think the "technology used to move boats or ships on or through the water" would be sails, paddlewheels, FPPs, CPPs, Z-drives and L-drives, waterjets, and magnetohydrodynamic drives.

The device that converts chemical (or nuclear) energy to mechanical (or electrical) energy isn't really what provides propulsion, is it?

RE:But engines don't actually propel a vessel, do they? The purpose to propel the ship is achieved by a system rather a PSI Propuilsion system Integration which includes everything right from ur main propusion power source to propeller and hull.
