Hydrovolts Creating Buzz in the Pacific Northwest
Hydrovolts developed a new clean technology to generate renewable energy from canals, waterways, spillways, rivers, streams, and tidal currents.

Hydrovolts has invented revolutionary in-stream hydrokinetic turbines that generate renewable energy from water currents.  The turbines are dropped into and secured in the open channel - it is not necessary to divert the flow or construct new channels or dams. The turbines produce 1 to 20 kW each depending on the current velocity.  Additionally, they can be scaled up and deployed in groups to make more power.

Hydrovolts recently won the Clean Tech Open National Sustainability Award and winner of the Newpreneur Contest.

Hydrovolts and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement for development of hydrokinetic technology to provide renewable power for remote ocean sensors. The company, based in Seattle, Wash., is currently a semi-finalist in the Clean Tech Open, a regional business-plan contest sponsored by investment firms and service providers.
