A Row Passed MV Kennicott

A Row Passed MV Kennicott
A row passed Fairhaven Shipyards new dry-dock and the Alaska Marine Highway's MV Kennicott in Bellingham, Wash.

Earlier this year, Fairhaven Shipyards of Bellingham, Wash. purchased a second dry-dock, a semi-submersible barge, the Faithful Servant, from China for $12m. The dry-dock allows the yard to service larger vessels, like the MV Kennicott of the Alaska Marine Highway ferry fleet. The vessel was recently moved off the dry-dock barge. Last week I took advantage of a beautiful day and launched my little alden rowing shell from the community boating center, just around the corner from Fairhaven Shipyard and had a friend snap a photo as I rowed passed the Kennicott. I love boats, big and small!

MV Kennicott:
Year built                   1998
Length                       382 ft
Beam                         85 ft
Crew capacity             56
Passenger capacity      499
